Derrick Brown is our Franchise player

We absolutely need to keep Brown over Burns if we are forced to choose. I also agree that Luvu needs to be brought back as well. We need to start drafting actual 1 Tech DL now that have some pass rushing ability.

The secondary seems very difficult to determine. After this season no one should expect Horn to ever be healthy which makes DJax our CB1 which he just isnt quite good enough to do. I think hes a fine CB2.

We need to prioritize IOL, IDL, CB and WR next draft. Probably WR and IOL first id say.

Funny because when he was a rookie, Brown got the same vitriol Bryce gets now.

Fair or unfair I believe Bryce is getting the “vitriol” is due to what the Panthers gave up to get him. A first, two seconds, plus DJ Moore is expensive and this created unrealistic expectations. Think if Bryce was drafted at #9 with no trade up there would be a different narrative on him but also would have had the assets to place a supporting cast around him.

I feel like some of us are forgetting the mistake we made with Star and KK.  We paid KK and let Star walk.  The year before we let him walk, our defense 3rd against the run, 15th against the pass and 10th in scoring.  One year later, we were 12th against the run, 15th against the pass and 19th in scoring.

Having that big dude clogging the middle makes your defense better in ways that are very difficult to quantify to a player, but easily seen when looking at the defense as a whole.

I’ve been hesitant on Brown but this year he has been a mauler. Just tossing anyone aside in his way. I would for sure pay him rather than Burns. Burns is a such a non factor sometimes it’s ridiculous he’s wants to be paid like he consistently makes a difference. I think Brown will be harder to replace in the long run.

I think you can find a player to give you similar production but at much lower cost. If a team offered me a #1 for Brown in the offseason I take that deal in a heart beat .

...we have to quit trading our talent away and getting a low cost option that doesn't pan out... Fitts been doing this his entire tenure here and as you can see it never works out. We just get progressively worse...

I agree with everything your post.

Burns isn't worth 30 mil a year based on this season's production. I'd let him go over Brown...IF...I had the interior DL you described above to compliment Brown. In fact, I think Brown's sacks would/could go up if he had another interior guy to bring some pressure.

We need help at all of the positions cited in your post, but I have no faith in the current FO to properly address any of those positions in the 2024 draft, especially without a #1 draft choice. The thought of Fitterer drafting a WR in round two terrifies me after the TMJ and Mingo selections.

If he was performing well, like a top 10 qb, very few would be complaining. Imo, if he does become a good qb, what we gave up won't really matter. But if he is a bust, very few will forget what we gave up.

You aint wrong here. Fitts problem isnt necessarily that hes a bad scout. Its that his personal philosophy on what makes a player a good prospect is atrocious. He values RAS scores way too highly, and doesnt draft enough football players.

I can understand why Tepper may be fooled by this approach though, so we need to brace ourselves for him sticking around a bit. I dont think he will be fired this year.

    • This draft is 2023 all over again, it's not hard to see. QB's who don't grade out as high first round prospects while at the same time, the following draft class looks to be loaded with elite QB prospects. Drafting a QB just because you need one (or making a bad trade to make said draft pick), when there isn't one worthy of that draft pick, is how you ruin franchises, just look at us right now.
    • I upgraded to the S24+ a few weeks back. Very happy with it.
    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.   And yes, I've never said I'm not a T-Mac homer. But me being that doesn't change that he will be the highest graded offensive player in this year's draft, at a position we haven't been able to solve since we lost Smitty.  Taking him makes all the sense in the world, my bias aside.
