"Only one year of coordinator experience"

I am hoping for the best but what irks me is this was probably a result of promoting Dan Morgan who I feel like probably shouldn’t have received the top job after being a part of the worst 3 year stretch in team history. But I guess we will see what happens. Canales won’t have anywhere close to the amount of offensive talent he had in Tampa. Mike Evans is a HOFer and Chris Godwin is a damn good receiver himself. Their offensive line isn’t horrendous either. It’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out with a talent deficient roster and deeply flawed QB.

This entirely. when a qb who has shown actual NFL talent doesn’t have to sweat blind side hits and is throwing at a HOF receiver… things can look pretty good.

For the sake of argument, how long is the list of guys that flamed out in similar situations? Willing to bet it's well longer than this.

Takeaway: who the hell knows what's going to happen. At least he didn't hire Quinn.

Yep, I'm sure it is. I just think the experience thing isn't really a knock. We tried the college route, we tried the retread route, now we're trying to young hotshot OC route. There is no sure thing.

Is he really even a hot shot? The Bucs were a below average offense. But I guess at the end of the day when you have the opportunity to hire the OC who orchestrated a 9-0 three FG barn burner to beat you and secure a playoff berth you just can't pass that up.

Wonder if this experience question will come up in the Panther's annual HC introduction presser. Just have to wait and see.

Jokes aside I think its worth giving Morgan and Canales a chance if for no other reason than we have no say in the matter and its a done deal.  For me its the same as BY.  Just gotta hope they figure it out.

It's probably the best we were going to do considering the circumstances. No other interviews for Morgan or Canales. Might turn out good because we need a real commitment. Might not because no one was knocking down their doors for a reason. In any event, time to root for them.

Yes, because one game defines the entire tenure. Thank god we didn't end up with Ben Johnson who could only muster 6 points vs the Ravens and 13 points vs the Bears.

    • It's crazy with how much winning was going on when we had a little cool off period that we're still just a couple games out of 6th. Moussa is getting better every week and Coby is getting comfortable. Would be nice to get to 6 but I think this team is a lot more stacked than the last couple play ins. I can't remember the exact rules but if you're 7th seed and win the first game I think you automatically move on and don't have to play the second game?
    • I think it was a thing for sure. Panthers weren’t too many people’s first choice. Or 5th choice.  2022 and 2023… coaches fired mid season. Consecutive years. You want any of that?  He has definitely overseen a rehab of how the Panthers are perceived. Because we are a place that is seen as up and coming. And just the little thing of he accommodated Theilen so graciously, that gets noticed. It all adds up. Dan is doing a lot of things right, probably most things.  Needs a good draft.
    • K, I think that is dumb, but you do you. I didn't find anything online that made him out to be a dislikable person. I am certain the Panthers would have cared so much if they lost your fandom if they hired Sean Payton. But bet you would have come crawling back if Sean lead us to a Super Bowl victory or Golden leads UNC to a champion ship. It is easy to say you are gonna leave a team if the hire someone you dislike when the chips are down. But people like you tend to come crawling back once the team finds success.
