Mingo stat. Lost yards on uncatchable balls

yeah there's a good few things that come into play.

should BY have thrown better balls? yes, but he didn't.

should BY have been in a better situation so he could throw better balls? yes, but he wasn't (thank play design and crappy blocking)

should mingo have been able to make adjustments back to the ball and make things happen  when throws were (much) less than perfect? yes. 

again, i'm hoping that XL can be that guy and that Brooks shows to be a solid dump off target. JT should be a good target as well.

I was going to quote the post but it was a mess trying to crop out that individual tweet on a phone browser. That chart basically screams what I saw on the field last year which was the worst starting QB in the NFL by a considerable margin and basically run of the mill bad receivers. The combination of the two yielded predictable abysmal results.

This is why I said before the draft this is not a good destination for a rookie wideout. Yes we think we have a better coach on paper this year (deja vu?). But if Bryce starts to struggle early like he did last season because defenses now have 16 games worth of tape of his habits and cons how long before the coach has to make a change for the good of the team? And will Tepper even allow that change? Stay tuned.

Yep. It's definitely not where I'd ideally want to land as a WR. Hell, just objectively speaking we're probably the least desirable location in the league, period. We've just been a poo show of losing, organizational chaos, coaching changes, QB carousel, and dysfunction since Tepper started "putting his stamp on the football side of the organization" starting in his second year of ownership. I'm not sure that I needed to add that "probably" qualifier.  I think we definitely are.

What this doesn't show is whether BY was up to his ass in defenders crawling all over him.

Before we pass judgment for 2024 how about we wait and see if a stud O-line makes a difference.

bad/weak QB play always drags down OL play.   OL is going to struggle if all Bryce can threaten is 10 yards of the field.  Because defenses will be play the entire game that way. 

OL was bad last year.  Bryce just helped highlight it even more.  Generally good QBs help mask it.

Actually, it does.  This graph shows yards missed when pressured and yards missed when not pressured.

As you can see here, under no pressure, Bryce left 600 yards on the field.  Under pressure, he left just short of 400 yards on the field.

Yes, Josh Allen was also out there with missed chances.  However, Josh Allen had 4300+ yards passing last year.  I suspect no one would be all that concerned about BY if he had anywhere near 4000 last year.

Cousins and Jones are such dink and dunkers. Sadly, so was Bryce. He just managed to also be the least efficient passer in the NFL while doing so which is a pretty extraordinary accomplishment.

Bryce made a Alabama offensive line look bad with all the sacks he took the year before last. When does that ever happen with Alabama?
