College Athletes can now be paid directly by schools to play

A CBA will be coming in the next few years.

Also, I suspect the other 27 conferences to eventually break away from the NCAA and form some other entity because the NCAA approved the settlement without giving any thought to the little guys.

I suspect we’ll then see a group of teams outside of those 27 conferences that are on board with paying players join together and create a 5th power conference to go along with the P4. Basically G5 schools that generate $50M+ in revenue (JMU, Fresno, Boise, UNLV, Colorado State, SDSU, UConn, Liberty, USF, Memphis, ECU, etc.).

This is terrible for college athletes as a whole and I completly disagree that college athletes should've been receiving a portion  of the money they generate from the college they represent.

I think he colleges, that were, making money from Names, Images and Likenesses should have been forced to use that money to decrease overall tuition cost to accomplish what the purpose of the institution, which is educating the people, instead they've all been linking their pockets and raising tuition every year.

Now they're going to monetize these kids directly because they don't give a Fat Albert about them, but their development, not their mental health, Nothing!

I am wondering if it will eventually get to the point that a guy like Bryce Young, if he fails in the NFL, can go back to college and pick up where he left off and make a lot of money.

Funny… get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th degree.

Thats terrible for the sport though because that behavior would block opportunities for younger guys which would impact the NFL down the line.

So what happens when the kid underwhelms relative to his compensation to play college football for Whatever State University?  Can they now be cut/fired, because they're employees more so than student athletes, or will the "their just kids, let them grow" narrative remain?  Business is business, can't have the cake and eat it too.

Think questions like this among other things is why we’ll see a CBA in a couple years. Eventually I think we’ll see college athletes, at least the elite one’s, signing contracts.

Ummm... they've been monetizing them for decades. Now they're just forced to actually pay the help.

    • 3rd and Chandler Zavala.......... Id toss in Yohsi or Brano/DJ Johnson if that's what it took to get the trade done.    Bungals need OL B-A-D   Its un-godly to treat a unique HOF level level like Burrow with the OL they have and seems going to this year. People forgot during that bungal SB year, Burrow was sacked like 62 times and I believe had the highest hurries as well. They should be in jail for this, no memeing....
    • I will admit this- Kon doesn't look or play like a 19 year. Much bigger and filled out than I thought he was. Plus initiate the offense during his best quarter and he did make some good passes for FG attempts.   I watch NBA years ago and was a top 3 fantasy yahoo managers for years. Many times a player had like 30 points, it mostly came from one or 2 hot quarters. The others were 5 and 0, so his 16 point game is normal in that regard.    If Ball, bridges, and Miller allow Kon to be apart of the team, just depends on if he clicks of not. Another generic white guy comp popped in my head........he of hornet lore-Gordon Hayward 15 points 5 rebs 3.5 asst Maybe??
