Did Steve Smith influence Tepper into firing Frank Reich?

I’m just listening to Steve Smith talk about how Bryce was a RPO QB in college, and how his rookie year he didn’t do any RPO in Frank Reich’s offense. We know how Frank was asked to add it by Tepper and he said no. I have to think that Steve has a line to Tepper’s ear and he had at least a tinge of influence telling Tepper that Reich’s offense wasn’t a fit for Bryce and later fired him. Steve is also talking about scheme fit and how it’s the most important thing for an offense and now Bryce will use RPO more under the new coaching staff and what a difference it will make.

I have to think Steve wasn’t shy about telling Tepper these things last year.

Maybe. Maybe not. I have heard Steve point that Mingo was a certain type of receiver in college who ran and was successful at certain routes and then in Reich’s offense they had him playing somewhere completely different and running routes he wasn’t as good at. So basically, seeing his players up to not succeed just to fit his scheme got him fired

Mingo's best position is a big slot, which doesn't really work with our personnel.  He got thrown into a situation he was totally unfamiliar with last season.

No I influenced Tepper into firing Frank.

Do you not remember me slandering him all preseason? Even before the season started I said this guy might actually be a downgrade from Rhule. I took the heat, but I was the one who was right.

I know HC's bro.

How did Tepper respond when you told him to stop meddling?

I think at some point in the season Reich basically fired himself. There was not any influence needed.

One day we will get a full story of how everything went down. Just expect to hear some things that will surprise you.

Tepper had reservations about the hire in the preseason.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
