To your point, there is no reason to play Bryce. We know what we have with him. There's no reason to play Dalton. He is not the answer. I don't know, put in the udfa they had out there in preseason. I think everybody knows dalton isn't the answer. This isn't about winning right now/competing for a championship. This is about putting a serviceable qb on the field that helps give you a functional offense for the time being. Bryce isnt doing that, he isnt doing much of anything at all. He had 84 yds passing today. The top receiver had 23 yds. They are barely even involved in the game, this is unacceptable for 15 more games. If you think a change can fix that you gotta do it. It's easy to sit at home as a fan say this is okay because it's benefits in the end, but that just isn't how it works for everybody involved. You saw today players are starting to show frustration in the open and we are only 2 games in. I don't know how else to explain it to you unless you just continue to look at this only from a fan perspective.

I think you misunderstand my opinion of Young, and the franchise as a whole.

There is nothing salvageable about this and it should've been torn down to floorboards and studs, when this rebuild was undertaken 4 coaches ago. The team shows the results of all those different philosophies and opinions and hands. There is no identity, no foundations, it's a collection of players, many of them would not be in the league other than the opportunity we have presented. Bring on the next set to turn us into a winner again. Spin the wheel of misfortune, Tepper.

But all said, you have some very fine points.

With so many things to keep track of that Bruce is bad at, I haven't yet complained about him staring down targets.

I got a crazy idea...lets put the best players at their position on the field. That's what every other team does.

He means that Dalton hasn't had a winning record in a season as a starter since 2015, which is true. However, several seasons were at .500 or just below it, so still notably better than anything Carolina has put on the field in years.

      I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
