Here's the Win-Win

I think it is a sign of quality cognitive processing when people who have been trained with propaganda and "alternative facts"point fingers and insult people by referring to political figures that they have been conditioned to hate--when the party they represent is going bat poo crazy.  (this is related to an inappropriate comment on this thread that proves to me that some people should sue their schools for malpractice--that is all I have to say about it).  Having said that, I think Dalton will give us some measure of normalcy to measure our team.  The OL?  check.  The WRs?  I think they could be good, but we don't know because the passes have not been arriving on time -- or at all.  I think we need a stud TE (we need to run two tight sets that can create problems for the defense.  Sanders could be one of them--a player who could be tough for a LB to cover, so they have to bring in their dime package (CBs) if we had another offensive threat.  Now, with 2 TEs and CBs replacing LBs, our running game could be elevated.  To me, it is a need, but we should be scoring 23-27 points a game if we had a good QB, imo.

Win-win is Dalton gives us the best chance to evaluate Mingo, XL, Brooks, Sanders (not miles), DJ, Theilen and our OL. Whether we win 4 games or 8, knowing what we have in our offensive players is far more important than trying to save Bryce's career.

I think 4 wins is really probably an extreme best case scenario. I said 3-5 before the season but I am thinking 0-3 is a lot more realistic.

I do believe we are indeed as bad as we look. The offense will improve but the team will still be very bad overall.

All I'm going to expect at this point in time is a football team and most importantly an NFL offense that is watchable. I have no other expectations and certainly nothing even approaching the realm of playoffs. Just don't embarrass us.

This. After what we've seen so far this season, mediocrity would be a big step forward.

the league has to step in and intervene since this isn't a professional level football product.

Sorry. When has this ever happened? and no, this isn't the worst team ever. This isn't the worst run for a football team ever.

There's always been teams who stay at the bottom of the barrel for a long time.

I see people say this like it's a possibility, but it's a pipe dream with no chance of it happening.

Short of some major ethical or legal issues, the league isn't going to step in and make him sell.

So your theory is that Dalton is going to turn us into a borderline playoff contender

Which will force the league to step in and do something about Tepper because it proves he screwed things up until then?

Even though turning us into a playoff contender would kinda be the opposite of being a dumpster fire of a  franchise that needs the league to step in and do something about it?!?!?!

No shot in hell at the playoffs.  The nfc south is suddenly formidable again, excluding all of our problems.

Fortunately, l can settle for a qb who can throw 25+ yds at this pt.

Yeah barring serious injuries to the other QBs in the division, we are not competing with NO, TB, or ATL this year.  Feels like playoffs are about as likely as the Vinny season.

    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.

    • I'm more of a Hornets fan than I am a Panthers fan, I've watched a ton of this franchise the last 20 years. I post all day on RealGM. Don't get your hopes up, this is setting us up for a 20 point loss to the Heat and a swift end to the season. Spoelstra has always solved us, the Heat have two bigs that we have no answers for, and Jaquez is a certified Hornets killer that always plays us like he has a grudge on us. The Hornets being a top 10 team all year and a top 5 team the last half of the year and then flat out missing the playoffs is incredibly on brand for this crappy, horrendous franchise. I would love to be proven wrong. But I've suffered enough to know this little scheme the team is pulling. We finished 2 games out of 6th and guaranteed playoffs, and we blew two games to the Pacers and Nets earlier in the season, when they weren't trying to win. It's just who we are, Hornets DNA
