Slowing my roll on Ward (for now)

I'd listen. Shedeur Sanders has Raiders written all over him IMO.

yeah, i'm thinking that as well. seems like a right fit.

giants i guess are going to be in on the discussion as well, but tbh i don't see them as an organization that would be pushing for that #1 pick.

i feel like Ward seems like a realistic option for us. i just don't know if we're going to be wanting to risk a QB at #1 again so soon.

so how about this....if we're sitting there at 1 and the raiders (who are obviously looking for a QB) come knocking offering to trade for 1, would you do it knowing that they'd likely be taking Ward?

No way in hell the raiders take ward over sanders

I think the Panthers take the QB if they have #1 again. There's no vet that might be in free agency worth a big contract and the team needs a starting quality QB. That means drafting one. Plus, none of the college edge rushers have proven to be worth the top pick either.

A QB in the 1st round isn’t a risk, it’s an almost mathematical prerequisite for finding a franchise QB. Yes they can turn out bad but so can the LB or S that people are going to clamor for.

I think Ward has all the potential and is in the conversation to be #1 QB. He's got the physical tools, he has faced adversity from no name college to Miami, he's put up the stats, has won games coming playing from behind. I think he just needs to play well in the playoffs and big time games. He is very similar to Cam Newton in regards to his college career. If Miami wins the championship, I think you have to draft him #1 overall.

I wouldn't call Washington State exactly "no name college". They're not powerhouse but they're a solid program.

Thats definitely been a strength of this team the coast few years.

Tepper loves a project QB.

A project is fine. A pack of them has been an issuenfor sure.

I just think most rookie QBs are projects at this point, some can start and others need to sit But you won't really know until they get in and start working with a professional crew vs the part time gig as a student athlete.

    • I hate to burst anyones bubble but this guy played 188 total defensive snaps in three years but 802 special teams snaps. If we do kick the tires, it's probably gonna be for that latter part.
    • I do believe that Evero gets canned before the end of the season and Capers takes over the D. I think the stage is set for Evero to fall on the sword for a 4-7 win season.  Not saying it would be a set up but I do think if that transpires, the seat under DC might start getting pretty warm, rightly or wrongly. That's my read on Tepper. I am not at all excited nor am I dreading anything. I just have extremely low expectations so I am just waiting to see what this revision of the roster looks like.  I FEEL like we are better on paper than last season's team but I wouldn't be remotely shocked if we were as bad or worse. Again, I do think this is the 2nd worst roster in franchise history overall. What will really make me happy is for some of the big questions to finally be answered(Bryce, Ikey, Horn, etc). I would like to see a real expansion of our core player pool(basically just D. Brown currently). I want to see a couple of hits in free agency and a couple in the draft. If we accomplish those things, I have faith that we are at least moving in the right direction after many, many years doing the opposite.
    • Considering our depth. Certainly kick the tires.
