I understand he’s a rookie. And he was a late bloomer in college also. But he’s having back breaking drops every single week. He had an awful one today that would have set us up with a first down in TB territory, and there was another third down play that while it wasn’t a drop he easily could have made a play on the ball and he just let a defender knock it away.

This is not me giving up on him. But when rookies that were taken just picks after him are the focal point of playoff offenses I think it’s fair that we start bringing this up. We can’t keep giving him a pass because of his funny accent

Keywords there "Playoff offenses".  They might be the a huge piece, but in every case there, they are not the only piece.  might be a good run game, good QB, or great coaching.  Meanwhile yes we have a good RB, but we're still like 24th in Rush YPG.  Other Recieving options?  basically all rookies.  QB?  A guy who was benched after 2 games and just now learning the NFL.  Hell we have a rookie coach.  It. Takes. Time.

No one is allowed to criticize XL unless you want serious clap back. He’s just one of those players that is immune to criticism on this board. But sorry that I don’t expect week in and week out drops, body catching, jumping for every ball when you don’t have to, horrible spatial awareness from a 1st round WR. He has so much to work on that it’s insane these issues didn’t drop him to atleast the 3rd round during the evaluation process. To make matters worse, the best RB today was a 4th round RB we could’ve waited later for and gotten someone like Cooper DeJean who filled a need in the 2nd who a lot of posters were pounding the table for including me.

Hubbard was seen as a jag who couldn't block and couldn't catch a cold. Now he's our offensive focal point. Now he had a killer fumble but he put in the work and now he's a viable 3 down rb.

If x does the same he can have the same trajectory.  He gets open. He's a rz target. He just needs to catch the damn ball. Spend the offseason on the jugs machine and we'll go from there

His stats are also comparable to worthy and Coleman who were picked around him and have much better qbs. And much better than ja Lynn Polk and adonai ( who a lot of people wanted ) who were picked in the 2nd round.

Point being is yes his hands need a lot of work.

But he gets open. If, and that's a big if right now, he improves his hands he can be a 1,000 and 8 kind of guy which is really good.

I bet he's left over 100 yards dropped so far this year. He improves this he could be a legit #1

McConkey was my #1 on my list for us. That's looking pretty good.

Polk was #2 on my list for us. That is NOT looking good. LOL

Tbf herbert is already a legit qb 1. Plus he has 0 competition for targets.

X had good Bryce, shitty Bryce, and old man Dalton. Plus dj, mingo and now thielen, jt and Coker competing for targets.

But yeh Ladd has much better stats and has been better. But it's hard for me to root for a dude named ladd. Or mcconkey.

    • I'm gonna be a grandpa!  My 2 year old son sat on my lap Panther's inaugural season in Clemson.  Die hard fans ever since.  Now he's going to be a daddy and sharing the fan tradition with a custom made shirt.  Check out the little fella in the sonogram (look closely).
    • Watch out now...... I agree but many others disagree with this line of thinking.  I seen a recent summary too- Which would you rather have the best safety or the 8th best edge? Best safety maybe kyle hamilton, the 8th best edge is Maxx Crosby. Id take maxx even with Myles or TJ on the roster. Plus if you don't like Maxx as 8th best, Id take whoever the 8th best edge is over the Kyle.  Panthers need a starter level edge, the only realistic shot is using the 1st rounder. But if somehow a stud LT pulls out a gas mask and falls to 19, draft them if much higher ranked.  The funny deal is those teams drafting in the late portion of drafts don't need edge, QB, WR, or OT..... I wonder why?!??? hmmmmmmm.... plus it pays off for them, cause they do need OG, ILB, TE, safety..... and now they get a top level player to remain great....
    • Wrong conclusion. FOs should look at this and say “What can I do to better set up my top pick to succeed?” Not say welp I guess I just shouldn’t draft the most talented player at the most important position. It’s like saying the Cavaliers shouldn’t have drafted Lebron because they did a poor job building around him and he didn’t start winning championships until he left. It’s silly. Should teams also look and say “wow look at all these super bowls won by QBs drafted in the 5th round, guess that’s the best round to draft a QB.” Nonsense.
