I really don't understand why they're still playing Cousins other than the $$$ they're paying him. You panic drafted Penix for a reason. Play him.

Or it could be that they're letting him get time to learn on the bench like a lot of new QBs need to do.ย

I think it would be fair to say if Byrce had spent his 1st year on the bench instead of being thrust into the starting lineup before he was ready, this season may have been quite different.ย

Agreed and it's probably a smart move.ย ย

So Cousins is good in Minnesota, Darnold sucks.ย  Cousins goes to Atlanta, he sucks.ย  Darnold goes to Minnesota, and he is good.

Likely the system he is in and the team. That is why a team should look at Darnolds full body of work and ask themselves if he is a true system QB that will regress a lot with another team. Darnold should not get a big payday.ย
Like Foles did when he left the Eagles. Dude won a Super Bowl and then a mid QB got a big contract and Foles sucked.ย

Baker sucks in Cleveland, Carolina--but look good in LA and then Tampa Bay.ย  It is the system--the team--more than people realize.ย  Goff sucks in LA to a lesser degree and is probably headed to a Super Bowl in Detroit and is solid in Detroit.ย  Rogers is a hall of famer in GB but in NY, he has been terrible.ย  Geno Smith sucked in NY (Jets) and is doing well in Seattle.ย  Russell Wilson is great in Seattle, Bad for the most part in Denver, and is better in Pittsburgh.ย  D. Watson was good in Houston and is now bad in Cleveland.ย  It is more system, play calling, surrounding talent, defense, etc. than people realize.ย

    • I mean, Brees was a sub 6' guy too(although they listed him as 6 foot). It is not a worry if you are an elite player. Even Flutie Flakes was able to succeed at the NFL level at his height. All QB's still need throwing lanes and different QB's play the game in a way that maximizes their abilities so they can be successful. All these sub-6 QB's we are talking about have had more NFL success that easily 80+% of 6-3 or better NFL QB's. That's why I keep beating this horse. It isn't about measurables, it's about abilities. That extends well beyond the QB position. Xavier Legette has elite abilities and measurables. Yet a slight little midget with no where near the athleticism is an infinitely better WR(McConkey). Jonathan Mingo is way more athletic than Puka Nacua. How is that working out? Never hyperfocus on measurables. It's a small part of a much bigger picture.ย  ย
    • His legs looked limited in school to me. Good enough at that level but it never looked NFL level. All the guys you mentioned made Bryce look slow and limited. What propped him up was other non-NFL level guys on the field.ย  Absolutely on the 2nd part. That's becaude when he bails he doesn't have to ability to make it work more often. Lots of times this year and past teams let him scramble because they obviously didn't see it as a serious threat. Hell Payton was allowed to run because he was so slow and took off so infrequently. Bryce isn't that bad but he is closer to that than to Murray.ย
    • This.ย  Its not tennessee bad, but the Ole Miss offense is a very hard one to correlate to nfl.
