It's a good sign for sure. I'm not sure the darkest days are over just yet.  But maybe, just maybe this is the beginning of something to build on that has grown organically from within. Only time will tell.

It's always darkest before the dawn

But culture and camaraderie can't be underestimated.  I dunno how many dream teams, big free agent signees, and just totally loaded teams ive seen completely implode bc of the clash of personalities and lack of of buy in and leadership

talent is great but leadership is just as important

This is why Diontae had to go. Anyone think Mingo was another "issue"?

Don't think mingo was an issue in that regard. Just dead weight that another team wanted and paid a hefty price for because they thought they saw something special.

I’m telling y’all, I’m buying more and more in to the hiring of Morgan as the GM. Every player in that locker room knows that Dan was that dude on the football field.  He’s a Panthers old head. Double OG.

When he walks in that locker room, you know those men listen. I really think they are beginning to buy in to what he is trying to do…. Rebuild Panthers culture. He can relate to guys that no x and o GM ever could. He’s one of them and played in one of the best SB of all time.

This season they’ve gone from being completely unwatchable to actually competing with big dogs. It’s fun.

It's too early to say for cetain but overall team culture may be the biggest contribution Canales has brought here. When he talked about Brooks reinjuring his ACL, he kept going back to the mental aspect of it. The thing with adversity is that overcoming it is more than just rehabbing, workouts, reps and studying. There's also having the motivation to keep pushing on despite how difficult it may be with injuries, mistakes and losses. At least to me, this unit is playing a lot more like an actual team supporting each other rather than a collection of individuals who just so happen to work together.

Whether we can sustain this is going to be the question, but I would hope the team as a whole understands that it's starting to get noticed by everyone. Please keep this up.

Changing the culture was always going to be the hard part.  Usually the wins have to come first, but this is a sign that they’re truly buying in and that’s nothing to scoff at.

This could be a much bigger deal than most are willing to admit.  Maybe, just maybe, the darkest days are behind us.

This needs to happen quicker, I'm not getting any younger.

    • When I say "average NFL WR", for me, that's comparing him to all WRs in the league during that season/span of time.  He was of course better than those #4-6 WR's that can't even get on the field, but talent/ability wise, he probably wasn't any better than a #3 WR for most NFL teams, he just happened to be on one of the teams in 2019 with even worse WR's so he put up solid stats for the season. Here's more or less how I'm looking at it. Take T-Mac right now and Chark at his best, put them on every NFL team at this very moment, and where would they fall on the depth chart come Week 1 (basically, the teams that don't put the rookies at #1 to "make them earn it in camp" don't count, it's projecting week 1 depth charts). T-Mac would be at worst the #2 WR on the majority of teams this season, (hell, he's likely our #1 at this very moment right now already), peak Chark would not.  Yes, T-Mac still has to prove himself at this level, but his current ability, even as a rookie who hasn't played a snap yet, would have him above Chark on any team's week 1 depth chart. Because again, you can't just fall back on "well Chark had a 1,000 yard season" and use that as the reason for having him above T-Mac.  As he didn't have that 1k yards because he was a beast, it was because he was the only halfway decent receiving option on a bad team that was always losing and passing the ball (the Jags had the 7th worst scoring differential that season).
    • We clearly need to add a veteran stopgap at safety one way or the other.
    • On Panther's Wire too. No idea, just found it and trying to share. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/06/15/nfl-free-agency-rumors-panthers-eagles-justin-simmons/84219881007/
