DJ Moore set the franchise back YEARS by taking his helmet off.

He was still able to play like Cam needed to play before that cheap shot by Watt. Can't tell me that didn't reinjure him. He was clearly not the same guy after that game.

I’m sure the hit didn’t help but the shoulder injury/surgeries started in 2016/2017.

According to this article about his 2019 surgery, it says he was added to the team’s injury report for the week 8 game. The Pittsburgh game was week 9. It was a bad hit, but he was already experiencing shoulder problems again before that game.

If Newton missed the next week or separated his shoulder or broke his collarbone, I might agree with you but a bad hit doesn’t tear a rotator cuff. It took years before all the wear and tear got to him and after that he had shoulder issues from 2016 until his career ended.

lol what the hell would be different (better) about this team if we had won that game??? nothing

We would have made the playoffs and had a pick in the 20s. We wouldn’t have been able to trade up for Young. We might have kept Darnold another year and picking from Tampa’s spot and the pick for CMC, we could have picked Kinkaid, Flowers, Smith-Njigba or Addison in the 1st, Reed or Rice in the 2nd and Dell or Downs in the 3rd. Could have solved the WR issue and seen if Darnold was worth it while also still having Moore and our 2024 1st and 2025 2nd. Instead we lost all those picks and have Young. We also could have ignored XL and taken Frazier at C or DeJean at CB. Team would be a lot more talented and likely winning the division.

Damn, you’re right. We could be living large with Darnold, Wilks, and DJ right now plus a good defense. This single event set in motion a chain of events that has all but destroyed Pantherdom

That was a BS call. The refs absolutely robbed us on that one. Earlier this season, one of the Chargers’ defenders removed his helmet immediately after intercepting a pass in the EZ. And no flag!!! Can’t tell me the refs didn’t screw us on the DJ call.

Plus, he wasn't in the field when it happened.

Exactly. It was an obvious hose job. Panthers should’ve won that game and the refs screwed us. Still pissed  about it. To suggest that penalty set us back years is pretty silly considering all the other major screw ups committed by Tepper.

    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
    • According to Scott Fowler, in an article about former Panthers announcer applying for a job with the Ravens... what that job pays, incidentally, when the Ravens posted it publicly they said the salary would be $4,000 to $5,000 per game. An NFL season consists of 20-24 games, including the preseason and potential playoff games, so it will end up somewhere between $80,000 and $120,000 a year. The person hired will be an independent contractor, which is commonplace in the NFL these days for team broadcasters, and also have other radio and TV hosting assignments.  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article315839800.html
