Tanking is for losers; it’s never a viable option, no matter how bad your team is. These is a silly fan ideas.

Every single one of these players and coaches is competing for their jobs. they don’t know if they’ll be here next year. There’s never a good reason for players and coaches to buy into the idea of tanking for an imaginary prospect.

It’s all about the draft pick and what the team needed at the time. The Chiefs didn’t know Mahomes was gonna be the player that he became or they would have taken him in the first round. Mahomes was drafted to be a backup.

draft position doesn’t matter if your front office knows how to draft and develop players.

Some ridiculous Mahomes comments being made today... he absolutely was not drafted to be the backup. Reid and the FO recognized that the team would never get over the hump with Smith's limitations and they identified Mahomes as their target who had the potential to exceed Smith. Did they know he would achieve so much? No, of course not. But they traded up to get him specifically because they needed someone better than Smith.

That's the whole point of these types of discussions. It takes a dynamic QB to beat the best in the modern NFL and that is the standard that Bryce is being measured against and what every team should be actively pursuing in one form or another until they have it. That's the reality.

I didn't care about the win either given no playoff.

the "win at all cost" crew view is this- it doesn't matter between pick #3 or #27....... Yes they suck at drafting, I still want the best pick EACH round, its more value- plain and simple. This is the big picture thinking and long term.

More than anything this team needs youth talent. Better odds if each pick is closer to the beginning of each round.

You have to learn as a team how to win, it doesn’t automagically happen when you restart next year. It’s not Madden

i still think we lose to the Bucs and Falcons because they’re desperate to win the division which means we’ll be back at #5 probably

I hope we can make them earn it.

OC Brad Idzik was hype af that the team won

I was wondering who that was running out there among the players.

Way I see it, the path between trying to win and trying to tank split off with our game against the Giants. Since then, we've gone head to head with some of the best teams, we've had our QB resurrecting his career to where there's potential for more, our rookie WRs are making plays, Chuba is becoming a big time player and we have some stability with our HC/GM for the time being. Us fans got a nice win for Christmas and a sense of optimism that the worst is behind us.

The Giants meanwhile paid their starting QB to go away, fans are flying signs to fire everyone, they are getting utterly embarrassed on the field, and who knows who is making the decisions on draft day. I can't even imagine what all the players on that roster feel right about now, but I guarantee a lot of bridges have been burnt and there's going to be players heading out. Their fans got two lumps of pick-six coal for Christmas and a dread of things to come.

I don't know about you but I prefer the football team that doesn't require putting a paper bag over my head anymore.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
