I don’t understand it at all. XL is the guy you drafted for that exact situation + he is having trouble catching downfield this year. Draw up easy screens for him and let him use his athleticism

Canales loves those horizontal or short plays behind the LOS and they basically never work, ever. Hate them with a passion. Those plays only worked for players like Steve Smith or CMC

Which plays into the whole passing yard numbers being way down. Other QB’s get a lot of easy yards whereas we get almost none

our screen game whether to running backs or wide receivers is trash
