I doubt that was a dealbreaker. He's only making about $3.5 million more per year than Josey Jewell. We could have just paid him instead of Jewell and did some minor contract adjustments and easily have fit him in. I might buy what others have said in him wanting a fresh start elsewhere.

This is the same team that declined a 1st round pick AND MORE for Brian Burns, only to let him walk for peanuts (Also see Bradbury, Curtis Samuel and Deonte Jackson).

Tepper may be a bad owner, although I think that is sometimes overblown, especially when it comes to his interfering in football decisions.  Fwiw, I think Teppers biggest problem is making bad hiring decisions.  Fitterer and Rhule were awful.  

But he isn't in the same universe as Dan Snyder.  

Also, the Commanders (almost typed Skins), lucked into Daniels.  They have crapped out so many times in the qb lottery so many times, that they were bound to get it right once (assuming Daniels isn't a 1 year wonder).

The real question with Chinn was why we didn't trade him last year before the deadline.

Evero wasn't playing him, there was a literal 0% chance he was going to re-sign here this year after not getting on the field the year before.  Even getting a 7th round pick in return for a player we wouldn't be able to re-sign and we weren't playing, would have made it worth it.

And that's coming from someone who was a big Chinn fan and upset that we weren't playing him, but once it was clear Evero didn't plan to use him, there was no point in not trading him as he had traded value.

Yep  what I heard too …

luvu was offered a comparable deal to Washington but luvu wanted to play under Quinn  

…And apparently no one in Carolina knew what to do with Chinn

I’d say they both made great choices to get the hell out of the poo show in charlotte 

they are one game away from a Super Bowl   

im not sure Evero is a good coach.    Opinions vary

Washingtons defense was average all year and they are only still playing because because the greatest rookie QB of all time fell in their lap

Our defense was never good and people are pissed we let players walk that were part of that defense that wasnt good lol

we put all our resources this offseason into fixing the offensive line and now outside of Moton our line looks set for the next 5 years. This year Im sure we will put that same effort into rebuilding the defense

      The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
