Nah guys, we are FINE at TE.  Dragging dudes off the streets with zero football experience.  Mud, meet wall. Crap, at least find some D-II TE to develop.  Full panic mode now that THE Ian Thomas has left the building.

The team is too inundated--100% full concentration---on which 'square peg' situational pass rusher we are going to trying to force into a 'round hole' on this team at pick #8.

Morgan: 'Hey, just go find some really tall guy to play TE while we do important work over here on Edge guys.'

Scout: 'How much football background does he need?'

Morgan: 'Who cares? We have all these pass rushers we have to sort through.'

*Some time later*

Scout: 'Hey Dan, I found some dude nearly 7 foot tall playing rec ball down at the YMCA.'

Morgan: 'Cool, how many years did he start at TE in college?'

Scout: 'None, he's never played TE or football...ever--but, but, you said you didn't care about that?'

Morgan: 'Honestly I don't...let's give him a minimum deal; and for crying out loud let me get back to the slew of pass rushers that all have holes in their game!'

There is literally no risk to this move.  They are constantly churning the bottom of the roster.  Bringing them in has no impact on their tight end decisions for this coming season.

No risk and literally no point.  We have tried this before with basketball players who actually HAD a football background as well.  All of them flopped.  At best, training camp and practice squad fodder.

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
