It is Quiet...Too Quiet: Thanks Dilworth Neighborhood Grille?

I think a total hands off approach is not attainable.  The football team is a toy the Billionaire plays with.
Ideally he finds a happy balance of being informed, engaged and questioning the process.

It’s one thing to be aware  of what’s going on and make sure there is logic and reason in said process.  It’s another to circumvent the process with “ gut instinct” and personal preference.

if he can do that, drop some cash in the facilities and stop throwing  drinks, things will start turning around I hope

Will he be in the war room on draft day? Yes.  Does that mean he's meddling? No.  As fans we will never know how much or little he is meddling with the on field product unless someone comes out and says something.  If he was signing my checks I wouldn't say poo.

In the weeks before the draft the consensus swung back and forth and then finally hard to Bryce Young once the "sources say" character assassination of CJ Stroud and the publicizing of his alleged S2 scores (lol) began.

As far as the huddle there were people here in the months before the draft wanting Stroud and some wanting Young.

Idk why we have to continually reestablish this.

The S2..lol I haven't heard of that since we drafted Bryce.

And side note: If Bryce pans out, their will be no holding back the Tepper's at that point.

You are right.  He can stand or grimace or clear his throat.  In the past, he has been the first guy on the phone.   I am not sure other teams do it.  I think he will be there, but  it will be interesting to see (if we do or can) how it is handled.

Morgan refused to answer, but he did stare at the reporter for 43 seconds.  This photo shows Morgan being asked about the Teppers' involvement during a recent presser: images.jpg.58d96d110e4e3383712fe8ea58e06c1d.jpg

Damn! DMo still has that LB stare. I just peed myself a little.

The Teps have been noticably more quiet and under the radar since the "throw drinks on a fan" incident

As the owner, I expect to see Tep in the draft room. Even talking to whomever was picked on the phone, welcoming them to the team

Based on how Dan/Dave worked last season (including benching Bryce), it appears like Dan/Dave are running the football operation the way they want to.

Do I expect the occasional input of advice? Sure - but I hope that Dan/Dave have proven enough for Tep to know his input may be - probably should be? - rejected

I joke about it, but I have seen some very positive signs.  I will list the things that I have noticed that tell me this team is far past the Gettlemen 1 year contracts and the Fittmagic era of missing nearly every pick imaginable and signing terrible free agents.

1.  They decided to bench Young after 2 games.  (Pretty bold move, but not as bold as the aftermath)

2.  They refused to trade or cut Young.  (this was against everyone here--even after we'd seen 2 former QBs leave Carolina to find success on other NFC teams.)

3.  Morgan used the offseason last year to build an OL and give Bryce some weapons to develop with him via the draft (XL, Brooks, Sanders).  Even though his first two draft picks did not pan out as hoped, the OL signings were essential.

4.  In the offseason, he let the Safeties go without brining them back.  (We cannot see the S position much on TV, but they were not good)

5.  In free agency, Morgan signed guys who were entering their primes instead of exiting.

6. The OL coaches are doing a great job developing players.  Ekwonu, Mays, Zavala all showed dramatic improvment.

7.  Canales is doing a heck of a job with Young, and I think Dalton has been a big part of that.  Bringing him back was part of it.

8.  THIS IS HUGE:  Morgan did not kick the can down the road by extending contracts.  He could have created cap room, but he pretty much stayed put.

Many of these things have not happened before.  Morgan is building the team to win consistently.  Hats off.

And Tepper is letting him do it.  That is the key.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
