Respectfully man if your entire argument is based off of a simple pff score lookup then your argument is severely flawed. There is a reason Mike Jackson signed a two year 10 million dollar deal and Jaycee is one of the highest paid corners in the league. Secondly, I don’t get the comparison to our huge need at pass rush last year. What does our massive and historic lack of talent at rushing the passer have to do with a weakness on this years roster?

we probably aren't interested (I would be).  But with the massive improvements on our DL via FA and the draft, the DBs will have an easier job this year

Doesn't really make sense for us or him, IMO. 

We are still a few seasons away(assuming things go well) from being a serious contending team and he will be over the hill at that point. 

Seems like more of a consideration for the "win now" franchises.

He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.

Would absolutely love to have him.

I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder.

The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money.

As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer.

The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective.

Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league.

The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness.

We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put.

But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also.

I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away.

We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season.

Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.

Why would we not be contenders?

As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...

 

if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO.

No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth.

Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines.

Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal

On the surface all variables to be considered aside obviously I would love to have him. Situationally though this compares to when we acquired Stephon Gilmore. Ramsey will be 31 this fall and Gilmore was 31 when we acquired him. Ultimately it was a moot point because we weren't ready to compete for anything of note and Gilmore went elsewhere. Ultimately I see this playing out the same. As such I cannot envision any scenario where he does not go to a legit playoff contender.

Risk: locker room cancer. Reward: past his prime cb helps a little bit on D.  Not worth trading away our 3rd round pick for that.

Nope. Maybe if we were one player away from winning a SB but why would you bring as young as we are? Why not save the money for the future? Why not give reps to younger talent in hoping to find a young starting CB. I also don’t feel like investing in a 30 year old CB.

For a 5th you’d be dumb not to. It’s a short term contract that’s easy to get out of later and locks down corner. If both stay healthy our defense goes from last to top 15.

4. Jalen Ramsey

Naw we are a few years away IMO.  I am not banking on the defensive pieces we added to put us in some playoff situation next season.   This defense was incredibly bad last year and it still needs more talent
