Thielen traded

I mean like none of those guys made a clutch 3rd down catch last year. Thielen was where Bryce looked on 3rd down and he could get open. Made some incredible catches. Trading him, who is the go to guy now? They must really believe in TMac as a rookie. Let’s hope it pans out.

Again, Theilen wasn’t playing for us in 2026 so why do we want Young looking to him? We have so much draft capital used in Young, TMac and XL. We need to actually make that work or we are going to be poo a lot longer than expected.

If the WRs are trash without a year rental of AT, we have bigger issues because we still need 2 solid ones in future drafts and because Young couldn’t elevate them. We need to evaluate the WRs as much as Young. AT takes away opportunities from the young WRs.

Young is the overwhelming priority. We have ample time on them and it's far easier to pivot at WR than QB. Remember that 2026 is year 4 for Bryce. That is 5th year option decision time and also the prime time to attempt to regain resources if a pivot is made. The odds of gaining any assets in a trade afterwards plumment very rapidly(all this depending on performance, obviously). At the end of that cycle, now we are likely in a $45+ million territory for him to remain.

So that decision trumps all others by a mile when it comes to personnel.

This is pretty brutal for Bryce Young. Thielen was the one receiver he had actual chemistry with and trust in. Getting into empty looks and giving Thielen two-way goes was how the Panthers sparked Bryce's turnaround

If Young can’t play without Thielen then Young’s career was going to be over after this season anyway.

Who cares about year 4 and 5th year option? The only elite QB who hadn’t proved himself by year 3 was Aaron Rodgers. First, Young isn’t him/doesn’t have an HOFer in front of him and second, Young doesn’t need a one year player as a security blanket. If he’s the guy, he needs to elevate his WRs in year 3.

They are claiming the ball is in Hunter’s court. He is talking it over with his family.

For all the shade thrown at the Panthers for cutting Renfrow, if he has to 'talk over' if he wants to play in the NFL or not,  then it should tell you that either the man's heart or health is not up to the task.  Either way, it looks like cutting him initially was the right move.  it gives him time to figure out if he feels like playing in the most exclusive sports League in the world.

Bryce had tunnel vision with thielen.  Removing it forces Bryce to look for the open wr not for where theilen is on the field.

XL led the team in targets by 20+ last season.

While AT was the more reliable (and productive) WR last season, he really wasn't force fed like some of the Bryce haters want to believe.

In fairness, AT missed several games last season.  And so did Bryce.  One would have to look specifically at games both of them played in to be accurate.

Just looking at the last two games, XL had 14 targets, Thielen 12 and Coker 9, so at least for the last two games, your assessment appears to be correct.

Yep. Always better to wait for the story to come out before overreacting. Now it looks like Moore was the only real vet we were able to keep in the WR room.

Well, also saw that there were other teams interested in him, so maybe the talking it over with his family is more about whether he wants to stay home in Carolina, or go play somewhere else where he might get more snaps.

I believe he wanted to play here because it was so close to home. If he plays I would think it would be here to keep it easy in his family.
