Jeremy Folwer: Panthers inquired about trading for Micah Parsons

Brown has made the pro bowl once.

Parsons has made the pro bowl every season, first team all pro twice, second team all pro once, and was also DROTY

parsons has been one of the four or five best defenders in the league since he was drafted. You cannot say that about brown.

To be fair Brown probably would have multiple pro bowls playing for "America's team"

Good. Due diligence is a good thing. Conversations are free

Exactly my thinking. The only time it gets a little sticky is if it's a QB, and the inquiring team already has a franchise QB.

We should always want to know what the market is for top tier players.

Agreed.  We should be banned from trading away 1st round picks until we get a playoff win.  We still have a lot of holes and not much depth on this roster.  Just keep trying to add talent where we can.

Kevin Greene. Everette Brown. Bryce Young. Trading 1st rounders has never….ever worked for this team. Maybe Bryce changes that. Maybe.

We never traded for Greene.  He acquired via free agency both times

Lol The pro bowl? Really pro bowl nods are a joke.

Parsons is a edge rusher which you know much more glamorous.

And he sure as sh*t wasn't worth Brown 2 1sts and 47m a year.

You don't know what the deal was?  If it was DB and 2 1sts plus you pay that contract, you would have done it?

I wouldn't have.

And while I'm certainly not one to credit Jerry Jones and the Cowboys with making all that many intelligent decisions, this deal still gives me the vibe of one of those where a star gets big money right before having an unforseen (and sometimes sudden) decline.

Would not be worth Brown and two firsts especially after we just drafted two edge rushers at 51 and 77.  Maybe Scourton a first and a second but the Cowboys wanted interior line.  It is also a move for a team trying to break into elite super bowl contender status and that is not us even w/ Micah.  Keep those draft picks and keep hoping Bryce develops into a franchise qb.

I don’t see how Young will ever be worth what we gave up. The 2024 QB class at a glance already seems miles ahead of 2023’s and we gave up the 1st overall pick in 2024. We gave up Jalen Carter when we needed DL help. We gave up DJ Moore and 2 more 2nd round picks.

Young may end up being OK but he’s not going to be a top 5 elite QB. Fitterer fuged everything all up by not trading Burns, CMC, Moore and others in 2022 to tank as hard as we could to get pick 1 or 2 so we only used 1 pick for the QB and still had 3 more firsts (GB offered pick 15 in 2023 for Moore) and a second and not lost any of “our” picks.

Yeah, they are already talking about him having to be shot up to play this week because of inflammation in his back. Also, I understand the pass rush abilities, but at sometimes you need to man up on run fits. He failed to do this time and time again when teams decided to play down hill on Dallas.

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
