Evero is an idiot and I think he must love him some trash players. Whatever, they all deserve to get fired for thinking that was building up a roster yet again. Just spinning wheels going nowhere.

If the defensive FA signings are mostly a bust, it's unquestionably time to move on. We keep getting guys for his defense. It's overdue for some sort of result.

For me to even consider keeping him around, this defense has to finish top 16 overall.

2 years and I can't see any meaningful improvements. It's not Frittershitz bad but it's not close to good. I can only hope Scott and Evero don't even make it that long.

It doesn’t help that the biggest piece on the offense is still a question mark on if he is the long term answer.
If he isn’t it is another draft where we can’t draft a first round defensive player.

The offense could prove to have gotten better, even if Bryce is a bust. The defense keeps getting worse.

TBH, IF TMac/Coker/XL pan out(or at least 2 of the 3), the offense could just be a QB away from being pretty decent.

That cannot be said of the defense. We are more than likely quite a few players away from being a top 10 defense.

Yup. Then again seeing their work I keep asking myself 'does it even matter?'. It will just be PFF doing the drafting again anyways and then there is the owner's hands to worry about when talking QBs and franchise faces.

Im just going to enjoy laughing at the current mess and save any hope for this franchise to finally fall backwards into any kind of meaningful success next year.

We need to go back to the 4-3

Too late to do that after this draft. Most of our front 7 is better suited for a 3-4 compared to a 4-3.

And honestly, we are still going to be in a nickel defense about half of the game because of how many 3 receiver sets are run. Nickel is the base defense now for a lot of teams

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
