Hot Takes Immediately After the Game

My takes. 2 wrongs and 1 right.

Wrong - I thought TMac would take some time to deal with NFL coverage and it would take a couple weeks to get going

Wrong - I thought XL was going to make a step forward and silence some that I had deemed a tad too hard

Right - basically everything else I thought overall going into this season.

Overreactions:

-XL is the reason why we drafted TMac; I think our staff knows XL's not starting WR material

-Adam Thielen wanted to go back to Minnesota because he saw a good opportunity to leave this dump

-Wharton flashed a lot before his hamstring problem, Derrick Brown looked good too; D-line looked good overall

- LBs are TERRIBLE and I honestly don't know what were thinking going into the season with this lineup

-Nick Scott will become the new Ian Thomas

-I think everybody knows Bryce can't make it in this league.

They averaged 7 yards per carry and we got no pressure all game. How did the dline look good agai

Building a D around Evero has failed. I don't want to hear about how we are primed for 4-3 either. These guys haven't built jack on  that side and I need to see these guys with at least a decent DC before I care about anyone outside of Brown and the 2 starting CBs.

They O is playing well below their talent level. DC isn't good and his part in all this is garbage. Thankfully Tet isn't another XL but I can't even evaluate him beyond better than that dud with this level of QB play. Most of Young's check should automatically go to Chubba since he is doing all the real work. Much like with the D, the system blows but in thst side it's built around Young so it's not a shocker.

I've seen people bring up the "7 yards per carry" a few times already, and while a little bit true (and also a little false), it's also a tad disingenuous

Because they didn't average 7 ypc, they averaged 6.3, which is 10% less.

And if you remove the 71 yarder that Etienne broke off, they only averaged 4.1 ypc the rest of the game.

I'm not saying we were great, and you can't just pick and choose plays to remove from stats to fit a narrative.  But our rush defense was nowhere near as bad as saying "they averaged 7 yards per carry" seems to insinuate.

30 carries for 200 yards says they weren't concerned with us stopping the great Etienne

Again, one play doesn't change a full game's narrative.

They had 32 carries for 200 yards.

Take away Etienne's single long run of 71 yards, and they only had 129 yards on their other 31 carries.

If I told you a team had 31 carries for 129 yards, I don't think anyone would say that team defended the run poorly in that game.

I'm not excusing this game, the players, the staff, any of it.  I'm just saying people who look at final box scores and try and make the averages or totals be the narrative for an entire game are just being purposefully obtuse to try and make their point and hoping people won't realize it.

I mean, I haven't read the thread yet, but I'd say that Dan Morgan and company should have flaming hot seats right about now. All that money to second-rate players in order to fool people into thinking we were actually better. Wharton, Brown III, and Moehrig were overpaid.

And all of you talking like DB is untouchable, think again. He's about as untouchable as Burns.

We fuging suck against the run. Evero's scheme doesn't maximize efficiency against the run. The Evero experiment has produced nothing but bad results.

Especially when that 71 yard carry should have been a 7 yard carry if Scott could fuging tackle.

Did anyone else see the FOX halftime crew making fun of our soft zone coverage on Travis Hunter?

Evero needs to go.

I thought they were making fun of Travis Hunter for basically just existing on that defensive rep vs the TMac slant.  Hunter was basically standing and watching
