Do You Agree With These Excuses?

Why is our franchise a joke?

well, they can give us the worst QB play in the NFL for the 3rd season…..and a huge % of the fanbase just defends it.  It’s not Bryce….which is essentially Tepper.  It’s his doing.  So if you are David Tepper you can be HORRIBLE and people still eat it up.   His investment grows and grows.  No reason to be or do different.  Fans will defend the comical as okay.  We are starting a kid whose physical tools aren’t as good as middle school Trevor Lawrence and he plays dumb on top of that.

Bryce wouldn't have been my choice, but I think this board is being overly harsh as well.  I don't think he has been the worst QB over the last three seasons, but that is a hard metric to track.

It's not like we as a team have been an easy place to play.  We have seen a few QBs leave here and instantly become better.  There's a reason for that.

He is not a franchise, game changing QB that he was touted to be. By being picked first over all, he is not delivering the goods.  He can be serviceable (when his mind is right) and everything is perfect. Just watch the QB play on Sunday and that is all you need to see. Not buying the bullshat that is spewed around here at times.

The proof is his full body of work over three years.

The every single little thing has to be perfect for him to have marginal success rationale is beyond the pale. This guy was supposed to be a "magician" off script. That was his bread and butter before the draft. Now we need top talent top coaching top to bottom perfection every single time guys lineup etc. These people are insane.

Was typing up basically this when you replied. Without his playmaking from college Young is just Teddy Bridgewater but shorter.

It’s not hard to track at all.   Name any QB that has stayed on the field during that window competing with him for worst over that time span.

No one exists.  You don’t get the opportunity to be this bad, this long.  Only examples would be guys that haven’t been out there that long.  So a guy getting a year 2 this year doesn’t even qualify.   Bryce already got that.

Right. The crazy thing is how much the narrative has shifted from the spring of 2023.

I remember back when the comparisons to Stroud before the draft were going in wild directions. There was one discussion in particular that people had taken and ran with that Bryce had the highest tight window throw % based off some random metric from who knows where. Which to me the tape doesn't lie. CJ Stroud was throwing heaters into absurdly small windows at times while Bryce was tossing up prayers to guys with 2 or more yards on their defender and sometimes still underthrew it.

At the end of the day people have to swallow that lump in their throat and begin accepting Bryce Young as people previously perceived him was a media creation because he played for Saban and Alabama. If he played anywhere else all of this discussion would be completely different.

Worse arm and vision but better runner with nothing in front of him.

He didn't play as bad as it looked live but still not like a #1 pick in his 3rd year should. Getting tired of the idea that the supporting cast isn't good enough and everything has to be perfect for him succeed. These are the best athletes in the world, the other team has talent too. Not every match up is won, you have to make do with it. Cam, Delhomme, Moore, Steve B, even PJ Walker would have owned the Jaguars Sunday.

When he looks like trash this week against the Cardinals what's going to be the excuse?

Pick any of the following:

-He can't win with these receivers. He would be elite if he had Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson at WR.

-It is all the defense's fault (as we lose the game 20-3)

-It's the oline's fault

-Bryce would be elite if we still had AT on the team

-It was just an off day

-All of the above

If this was his first game as a rookie then I would be all for rationalizing this. But it is year 3 and he doesn’t have it.  If u had AT he would have had a better game in all likelihood but I think that amounts to putting lipstick on a pig. No matter play out the year and see where you end up which is probably looking for a new QB.

Hope I’m wrong but that hope is microscopic at this point.

I have never seen another QB be coddled by reporters and the like and find every possible excuse except for Bryce just not being that good

Not sure about reporters, but fans do that all the time. Hell, if you were to ask some people on here, Cam Newton never had a single bad game in his entire career.

Regardless of whether it's Young, Newton, Delhomme, Clausen, Teddy Bridgewater or even Matt Moore, It's never "everybody else's fault" anymore than it's ever all one person's fault.

Young's performance this past Sunday was not good enough, but he had plenty of help.

No argument there, but QBs are able to elevate the players around them. Bryce just sinks in quicksand right along with the rest of the team.

If Bryce were a 3rd round draft pick or later, I would be less mad. We drafted him #1 overall though and he just doesn't make the players around him better.

There are very few quarterbacks I would be comfortable ascribing that ability to.

The vast majority require a strong team and organization around them to succeed.

Bryce clearly isn't one of those guys, and he's never going to be one of those guys, but you don't absolutely have to have one of those guys if you have the right team building.

I don't really think I have to say whether or not we have that here 😕

Fourth round pick at best.

outside of XL not getting his feet down …. How did the WRs let him down?  Or is TMac, who played great, potentially running one bad route on a play in his first NFL game enough for that claim? Despite every NFL QB facing Sunday’s with imperfect WR play, imperfect OL play, etc.

excuses are just made for Bryce that aren’t recognized as just life as a QB.  You can pick any QB in the NFL and find a host of plays where things didn’t go to plan around them all game

WR not WRs. Sorry I should have said XL. I was tired when I wrote this. Renfrow and T-Max were fine. I don’t blame Renfrow for not catching the hospital balls and T-Max was playing his heart out trying to catch difficult passes.
