Lanoris Sellers = Cam lite?

I would take in a heartbeat.  With TMacs ability to catch just about everything in a fifteen foot radius, those two together would be freaking dangerous.  He isn’t very accurate, yet, but he doesn’t need to be with the type of WR we have.  Cam wasn’t very accurate either, that turned out ok.

Lite? I'm not sure there's any 'lite' about him. He reminds me more of Cam than any QB coming out of college since Josh Allen, and Sellers is significantly better as a passer than Josh Allen was coming out of Wyoming.

Still raw, yes, but farther along in his development than Allen was and has played against much better competition in the SEC.

Now, he hasn't shown the ability to outright carry a team on his back the way Cam did at Auburn, but that's an extraordinarily rare trait for a QB. Most QB prospects don't check that particular box.

On the flip side, South Carolina has a lot more talent than Auburn did when Cam was there so Sellers hasn't had to carry them.

What are your thoughts on Sellers?  Big frame and big arm at 6'3 and 245 lbs. Shades of Cam Newton. Complete opposite of Young. Could be the answer to what they need. He needs some refinment, but the intangibles are sky high. Looks like a smart guy and not a problem child. He will be a high QB prospect no doubt.

He feels more like Richardson. I don't know about his passing intangibles, he's also only a sophmore i think?

He needs to improve his progressions and not look to run every time his primary target is covered.  If he does, Sellers could be the number 1 overall pick.  If he doesn't, then he'll be a later round flier and the NFL is littered with running QBs that are so so at passing.

QBs get overdrafted due to importance and lack of supply. Does he have the physicals and can he be coached? If so then he will be a top pick. If not then he may be a Panther...

Sellers will absolutely not be a late round anything. He'll go 1st round based off traits alone.

    • I expect Young to play better and the team to play better.  Week one is something I refuse to give much weight to, going back to when we had 4 preseason games.    All kinds of unpredictable outcomes happen week one. Seen it too many times to discount that. Since the 17 game schedule, I don’t pay much mind to results and how the units look until week 3. The units just need time to get the teamwork and timing together under real conditions. Not a series at 90% in preseason. That won’t do it. And it is hard to get around it.  But Frank is right when he points to the difference in how the offense looks with an NFL level arm behind center. Seattle in 2023, Vegas in 2024, were just liberating for the passing game.    This Bryce ball is no fun to watch unless he is having a day where  everything is clicking. Which I think we saw one time. Out of 29. Meh.
    • Doesn't help that Coen beat up on Evero's defense pretty good last season both times. Looks (and sounds, according to TLaw) like he has the scheme figured out. 😮
    • Yeah, it’s not complicated. is a seam route a hospital ball? No. can a seam route be a hospital ball ? Yes.   if you are throwing seam routes do you need to make sure you don’t hang your TE/WR out to dry? Yes.  Because of injury.  as a former NFL QB explained….Bryce was late with the throw (common issue with Bryce) and  threw it too far up field.  So a seam route became a hospital ball. result? An incompletion that got his WR banged up  honestly have no clue what Bryce defenders are doing at this point.   I’m out on talking about all his bad throws from Sunday.
