We won, but Bryce and Canalas still blow

Recommended Posts

This may ruffle some feathers, but if we had and an average QB, we would have won by 50 points. Canalas still completely devalues the run when our best weapon is still Chuba. Make of it what you want but it’s fools gold. Bryce and Canalas will figure out a way to screw this up next week.

Bryce still sucks Caneles on the other hand has a QB who can't threaten down the field like his system calls for

How the hell did Canales devalue the run today?  What were the calls you considered bad?

They had a plan in place to beat a team that on paper is far superior and it worked. Bryce made some bad throws but he also had a lot of good ones too. He did what was needed to win. Credit where credit is due.

Top to bottom a team win. Special teams was the best I’ve seen since I don’t know when. We have a dude who can bust 57 yd field goals. Dude boomed punts in to the stratosphere.

I can see what you're trying to say but you're going to get shitted on to oblivion if you say anything negative about the team after a huge blowout shutout win against a division rival.

I personally loved seeing the defense come together and no turnovers from offense, but it does make me wonder who this team truly is. But I will say this kind of win showed me they probably arent as bad I thought after the first 2 games.

Biggest story of this game is winning the turnover battle. Not having early turnovers or any turnovers and not being behind score wise helped a lot. I still want to see how they play again if they are down early in a game against better teams later in the year.

30-0 shutout my man. If I'm right it's been like a decade since we had a game like this.

For now, enjoy the win. Lots to be happy about from this game.

In a year we are contenders, yea, I'm more willing to enjoy a win no matter how it comes, and save the complaining for Monday morning.

But as I've said countless times over the last few months, I don't care one bit about winning or losing games this year.  I want to see improvement from the players and staff, as well as determining Bryce's ability to be our future QB.

Games like today don't help evaluate Bryce one bit, we only had 17 chances to do that this year, he sucked in the first two and now we threw away the 3rd chance by not letting him throw the ball more than 5 yards down field on more than like 3 pass attempts.

So ya, I'm going to question the play calling, this isn't a team in a place to just coast to wins because the other team poo the bed.  We need to use these games to our advantage and push the envelope to see what Bryce can do since we had the win in the bag, and if he made a few mistakes, so be it, we were still going to win it.

I mean, that’s one way to evaluate today.

I think we’ve outscored opponents 50-7 over the last 6 quarters. We had some shockingly unfortunate bounces against the cards in the first half. Didn’t love everything I saw today but it’s hard to argue with the production we’re seeing in that small sample size. Jacksonville also looks pretty darn good through 3 games.

Canales may not be it, bryce may not be it, but for the first time since David tepper came to town I think the trajectory is pointed up. Jaycee, DB and Tetaroia are legit stars. The last time we had a Legit star he wore 22.

embrace progress. Enjoy the win. Touch some grass.

    • I don't think working from memory is going to be very productive or useful. You would need to compare them all, which is far easier to do from the breakdowns of each game. That has tiered charts that give real data.  But, even then that wouldn't substitute for a trained eye(s) doing detailed film analysis to attempt to determine if we are modifying the offense dramatically for Bryce.
    • I think front office and general team culture under new ownership is sort of on the right track. The rookies all look incredible compared to where you'd expect each one of them to be right now. Lee's in game coaching is awful, he might be ok as a culture and developmental guy but that can't outweigh the in-game miscues and bad game plans. If LaMelo can't figure out the ankles then I think you gotta trade him for a haul, can't keep having your seasons lost every year because he can't stay on the court. And I say that as a big fan of him. Miller I think is unlucky, he looks likely to be an elite core player for us, but if he can't put together a stretch of healthy seasons he would trend towards LaMelo and need to be moved. I used to like Miles on the court a lot more but nowadays he's just an empty stat guy who needs to go. The short lived hot start to the season was fun but unless LaMelo and Miller both get and stay healthy within the next few weeks I can't even see us being a play-in team this year. And even if they do get healthy, we're probably looking at play-in at best, maybe barely compete for that fringe 6th seed.
