But I do agree Canales scheme doesn't fit a Renfrow and really won't fit Horn either.  Coker probably fits the slot in Canales' scheme.  

Baker Mayfield fits Canales' offense. Canales wants to take shots. He needs a big armed QB with the guts and the ability to take the shots. If we're taking those shots it opens up opportunities for a guy like Renfrow or Horn to work underneath. The NFL passing game has evolved more and more toward the short passing game focused on getting the ball out fast but you need the threat of the deep ball to open up those opportunities. When everything is short and there's no threat vertically the defense can just choke you to death. That's why redzone offense is a lot more difficult. There's just less field for the defense to have to defend. When your offense has no credible vertical threat the entire field basically becomes redzone offense. And everyone tends to act like arm strength only comes into play when throwing the ball downfield but it also comes into play squeezing the ball into the tighter windows in the redzone. Sometimes you just gotta fire that fast ball in there and Bryce just doesn't have a fast ball. It puts a lot of pressure on the coaches to scheme guys open.

going into the season, I always said Jake Delhomme fits Canales better than any QB we have had here.  Not that Jake's arm was great but Jake was willing to push the envelope downfield to open up the offense.   The entire league has been sitting on our offense since Bryce arrived (Frank's and Canales).....and it makes football super hard.   Small ball gets harder.  Running gets harder.

Dodge deny deflect you say but every time you quote me you bring up my old account like it's some gotcha. Nobody cares. That was years ago. Life moves on. Coker(GOAT)  coming back and hopefully XL getting out of his slump should help our offense.  BC at RG over Zavala looked like a nice upgrade on Sunday.

Today, I just don't see it. Moreover, Horn can't block worth a sh¡t. If you can't get Renfrow the ball, without trying to get him killed in the process, you have issues. Renfrow's problem is Bryce, and I stand by that.

Same with XL.  XL catch % during Bryces "good games" stretch was 51% vs 63% with Andy Dalton
