The Panthers’ Offensive Spending Is Misleading — and Bryce Young Is Paying the Price

The heck are the Ravens doing? They just said "Lamar can run... forget the protection."

Well I haven’t  looked but it could be like our WR, lots of rookie deals.

Just saw on Twitter a panthers fan share Youngs fourth down throw to horn and say Hurts could never make that throw. I’m not saying hurts is all world or anything but comparing the two is baffling

I bet the hate that comes back for dissenting over there would be daunting.

As far as the Ravens OL, I mean when you have to pay your QB like that what can you do?
If I were a QB that wanted to win and stay healthy I’d be willing to ‘get by’ on 35 million a year to keep the OL talent level up.

Not just a QB on a rookie contract, but two 1st round WRs on it as well.

I can't see how anyone can say we haven't properly invested in an offensive supporting case for Bryce.

We tried to trade or sign for an established #1 WR and couldn't, so we did the next best thing in drafting them back to back years in the first.

We have 2 RBs, so no need to go out and spend more big money there.

That really only leaves the OL, which we've properly invested in as we have a solidified RT, new Guards, and a LT also still on a rookie contract.

Complain we haven't brought in a better Center yet, but saying we haven't properly spent to support Bryce is nonsense.

The only real complaint is the misses on the high draft picks at WR

This revisionist history that Bryce Young needs all pro talent at every position around him to flash franchise QB worthy play is wild beyond words considering what he was advertised as before the draft. And he himself happily participated in maintaining that hype by deciding not to throw at the combine because he knew how it would look.

He is 34 games into his NFL career. You guys cannot continue to throw every single player and coach under the bus and expect to be met with productive discussion in response.

This is exactly the crux of it. You don't spend a #1 overall on a player that requires perfection around him to play even decent football, and then when that lack of elevating ability is confirmed you don't continue down that path.

5 games in and he has cracked 200 yards (check notes) exactly once.

Trying to properly invest and properly investing are two different things. The bottom line is regardles of the picks and FA signings, Bryce had had a lack of talent to work with

You're goddamn right about that.

He's overcome being 5'10", 180lbs with a noodle arm all his life. Alas he's not been able to overcome those shortcomings at the NFL level.

The thing you gotta realize is that we made the move we made to draft Bryce because we thought we were getting a guy who can carry an offense. Giving up that much roster building capital you know you're going to create some roster holes. We just thought Bryce was worth it. He wasn't.

You'd be asking for a refund if you spent a fifth rounder on him, nevermind three firsts.

I actually don't think the team is terrible outside of Young. Not good by any means, but not bottom of the NFL bad either. Young, however, pulls them down to that level. It is unfortunate there is no one on the roster as a viable alternative to Young.

It's by design. No serious competition was brought in for Bryce because if they could step in and actually perform with the same pieces where Bryce hasn't there's no denying the obvious.

Definitely get the sentiments of the OP. Young's weapons can't just be 2 solid OGs, one being on IR. The weapons added through the draft and FA have been absolute dogsh*t excluding Tmac of course. Bryce isn't without his faults though. The amount of stupid fuging turnovers that go for TDs have to stop. I've never seen the QB fumble like he does as often as he does. That has nothing to do with the players around him. I'm still willing to give Bryce this season especially with Coker coming back but I don't have high hopes. He has to continue to flash playmaking ability and stop being the reason this team remains one of the worst 1st half teams in NFL History.

I wish we had a QB that had the ability to make others look better vs a QB thst needs others to be the best to make him look serviceable.

And they still haven't played a good team. Jags looking like they have improved more in 5 games than 1 season and 5 games under DC with Young at QB.

Thanks for the laughs tho
