Where do you fall on the Bryce Young spectrum?

  1. 1. It's been so spirited for so long, let's draw some lines in the sand. Where do you fall on the Bryce spectrum?

    • Full-on fan - He is our Franchise QB, present & future
    • The door is still open for him being the answer
    • The door is closed barring a major run
    • Nope, he's not the answer - Doesn't matter what he does

Ultimately all that matters is where the Panthers' brass falls and this article is horrifying

The original post that was based on doesn't seem to be saying what that article is saying at all. It's moreso general commentary on Bryce.

Seems click baity.

The team has been slowly leaking this to folks the past 2 weeks.  Whether its in articles or podcasts this is something the panthers/teppers have been floating.  Subtle but its there.

They arent going to change a goddamn thing next year.  And hopefully its just the 5th year option and not a massive extension.  In short we are fuged

Nah, it feels like someone is trickling info to Jordan schutlz to plant info in the media.  The classic slow drip.  Watch for Fowler or Mike Kaye or someone from the observer to be the next.

On a scale of Clausen to Newton, I would rate Young as a solid Teddy B.

On that same chart, slot me in between Teddy and Clausen.  But more toward Teddy than Clausen.

I think if we literally made a list of every Panther QB, that's where I think the collective group slots him.

Tim Donnelly had a good point about teams that overpay QBs.  There are a dozen or so true franchise altering $50m a year QBs.  We don't want to be in the Jags shoes of paying $50m for Tlaw when he's not proven to be that dude.

Bryce is playing like a $20-30m a year QB (on an extension/market).  Someone who can play within a system, make some plays, but isn't going to lift your team out of the dumpster.

I don't think it would be a good idea to give Bryce that kind of raise.  5th year option, today, I'm down for it.  Give it time.  If he does stink after the option, that's a much easier cap pill to swallow than the remains of a fugged up $50m contract...

If Dan and Brad sign off on that...well...it's their butts!

the one thing this post has suprised me with is how much support there still is for young.  i dont understand why.  we had qbs before him that went to superbowls that lost support way quicker.  thr only qb we had had that started any number of games that played worse than young is clausen.  allen and moore played better and yet people still support him makes 0 sense to me

We aren't asking the right questions.

Bryce is a decent QB. The Panthers are finding out that having the correct pieces around him is required for him to be successful. That means a good running game, competent receivers and a sturdy offensive line. Bryce can be a positive contributor in those conditions.

A couple of further improvements and this could be a playoff team. Bryce could be good enough to help the Panthers get there.

But he's not enough to get the Panthers to the Super Bowl let alone win it.

So, the missing option in the poll is "He's good enough to help get the Panthers to the playoffs, but not the Super Bowl."

And winning the Super Bowl was supposed to be the whole point in doing that insane trade up and picking him.
It was a big pointless fail.

He’s done ok these past few weeks. I will give him that.

Now, to answer the question; I’m out on him being the guy. If he turns it around, great. I’ll go with option 3. I’d still plan on moving on without him this offseason

If he ends up being our "Alex Smith" before the next guy, I can't complain too much

the problem with that logic in 2025 is that our "alex smith" is going to want 4/5 years at 50 million per.  Its a different time then even 7-8 years ago.  You cannot cripple yourself unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is your franchise guy.  And I think even the die hard bryce guys cannot look you in the eye and say that.

At the absolute worst I think the best scenario is either draft a dude or sign a vet, kick dalton to the curb and let them fight it out.  No fuging way has he earned the 5th yet
