5 yards a carry is good but it still doesn't mean you run it every time.  Rico had a couple long runs which brings up the average, over over 20 yards on at least 1 I believe.  Watching the first half, we typically threw it when it was 3rd and long due to the first couple runs getting stopped.  I mean the fact it was 40-9 and we still ran it more than we passed shows me our goal was to run it on them, we just got in too much of a hole.

even if you exclude the final drive of the first half (because it was going to be pass heavy given the time), most of his passing was on 1st and 2nd down.

8 vs 5.  And one of those 5 was a 3rd and short.

Just a horrible called game.

Most people on this site get that Rico not getting the ball at all on  2 of the first 3 series is a CHOICE.  And a bad one.  Which outs the gameplan (lack there of being a good one)  going into the game of not wanting to take advantage of a bad rush D with your best player.

and if you go back and watch some of those Rico goes wild games.  We opted to run.....when in theory you shouldn't of if you had a good QB.  Which is what we should of opted to do vs a horrific run D with Dalton at QB.

Pretty sure if Rico Dowdle was the primary RB.....that entire game changes.  Bills couldn't stop him.  He just barely touched the ball in the first half.  Coaching choic.  We probably lose but we probably are competitive late.

I mean, its actually WILD to suggest giving Rico the ball heavy of and often early vs that bad run defense doesn't change much.

These guys are crazy.

We trot Chuba out there on the first drive two straight handoffs he averages 2 yards a carry on that drive Andy gets sacked on 3rd down and punt.

2nd drive with Rico in we throw a pass first play for first down to TMac, next play we run Rico for 5 yard gain, next play incomplete pass, next play another 5 yard gain for Rico, followed by another incomplete pass, and then Rico breaks a 24 yard gain to get us into the red zone, before Dalton fumbles.

Half of Rico carries came in his first drive of the game.

Yes we were in the hole, mainly due to coaching sucks.

We had more runs than passes in a blowout. The goal was clear the performance was a disaster. 38 year old vet played like an undrafted rookie.

Canales abandoned the run on the 1st 2 series. He never allowed the running back to get into a rhythm. He got out coached plain and simple.

Canales got cute, trying to throw the ball. Instead of leaning on the ground game to take pressure off the backup QB. Also they still don’t know how to split the carries.

Canales saw this and said “No, I’m good”

He out coached himself. This was a game plan a 6 year old could have run on Madden.

Rico run. Rico Smash. Rico Touchdown.

Abandoned the run on the first 2 series but had more rushing attempts than passing in a blowout? That doesn’t make sense. He 100% got out coached regardless and should have used Rico more. However Dalton’s performance cost us this game more than anything.

He started running to try to keep the Bills offense for scoring anymore points on them in the second half when it was too late. He kept trying to get Chuba involved when it wasn't working.

BY gives us best chance to win, like it or not. I highly doubt he would turn the ball over 4 times yesterday or gotten sacked with no timeouts remaining.  However the formula should have been to run Rico like in the Miami and Dallas game but Canales had to get cute

Unfortunately it’s by design so no I don’t like it.  And neither should you.

Yeah, no, this wasn't Canales throwing the game plan out of the window and going pass happy.

This was Dalton literally turning the ball over or getting sacked every other time he touched it. You cannot win with that, regardless of who's in your backfield.

And I'm not over exaggerating - 24 throws, 4 turnovers, 7 sacks.

This sums it up well.  I'm glad I'm not going crazy over here thinking this same thing.  Our QB poo the bed against a good team and our whole team got deflated.

I think he was just trying to run the clock. He knew the game was over right away.
