then he probably wouldnt be happy and either ask for a trade or to be cut since he knows he isnt the future

Yeah I can already see the writing on the wall.  They pick up year 5 to buy themselves more time.  The rationale will be that the year 5 salary is an absolute steal for a franchise QB.  Its the Sam Darnold logic.

Which would have probably worked out better in the ling term had the FO just stuck with it for a little longer. But hindsight is 50/50.

I just don't know if Tepper is ready to swallow that bitter pill yet and unfortunately watching guys like Darnold and Baker bounce back elsewhere and now Daniel Jones too could be giving him the false impression that we still need to keep building around Bryce and not give up yet ignoring the reality that those other guys have a lot more talent than Bryce.

Biggest difference being those guys you mentioned left trash teams/situations that allowed them to flourish under better circumstances.  Tepper doesn't realize this is one of the trash organizations that holds QBs back.  If Young materializes into anything other than what he is now, it will be on a different team.

I agree, if Tepper has final say on the 5th-year option, Young gets it because Dave is not willing to admit defeat on the comedy of errors that led to us drafting Bryce.  Dave's ego is more important than the future of this franchise.  We all know that by this point in his ownership tenure.

I actually think we've built a decent situation for a QB to step into while trying to build around Bryce. We have a good OL, a good running game, and we have some talent at receiver. The very obvious thing holding back this offense is the lack of ability at the most important spot (and Canales not riding Rico).

No reaching but if the right guy falls into place, sure.

We are unlikely to remain in our current draft position so I suspect we'll be just outside the top 10 or just inside it. We will have an option to get great talent there, so I'd avoid reaching for a QB, but their value makes them hard to pass up on if we think there's a guy.

We definitely have. The D is young and improving. We have talent at WR in TMac (could be one of the NFL's best), Coker, etc. great OL and running game. Offensive minded coach (tho he needs to move to Rico or... Yeah...)...

The team feels like it's being built right even if our results aren't always what we want just yet.

Think we need a draft or two before we go qb hunting again, try and build the team, specifically finding a identity

i don’t think Dave is the guy so that also makes things a lot more difficult but we’ve tried and failed miserably on every attempt to find a qb, and it’s come at the detriment of losing proven ballers on this team

It may not be the kind of qb class everyone thought at the start of the college season, but I would hope we take a hard look at Mendoza for IU, Moore for Oregon, or Ty Simpson for Bama if any of them fall to us.  I think we are headed to a good chance at one of the three. Not sure what we do with Bryce in that situation.

All you really care about is the Tmac gets his yards. Im not interested in taking a step back. You either improve a situation or you shouldn't be the coach or GM. Im not listening to anyone that can't see past a long ball pass. It takes a hell of a lot more than a big arm to be a great qb in the nfl.

That you think all I care about is T-Mac getting his yards is just sad.  Yes, I'm over enthusiastic about him being a Panther.  Yes, I would love to see him put up monster stats and become a superstar.  No denying any of that, would be dumb to say or think otherwise.

But that doesn't mean everything, or anything, I say in regards to the team is rooted in me wanting him to have better stats.  I want those, but even more, I want to be playing competitive playoff football again.

I'm not going to try and go find old posts of mine, but I was saying these EXACT same things about how to build the roster and find a long term QB solution well before we drafted T-Mac, these are not new stances by me on here, hell, I was saying them in 2023 about that class and why I didn't want to trade up for one.

We might not find a "better starter" in FA if the best option is say someone like Jameis.  But I still contend that Jameis would be FAR better for the development of all our young pass catchers than Bryce is, even though Bryce would win us a few more games because of less mistakes.

He would be cheap, would let us use our draft picks and cap room on other dire needs, and then if the roster is in the right place, you attack QB hard in some manner the following offseason and they're stepping into a much better team around them.

You view that as a step backwards, I view it as prudent roster building towards contending for a SB.  Keeping around a QB who isn't the guy or overreaching for the wrong replacement is how you get stuck in the cycle we are in now.

And no, that has nothing to do with T-Mac other than him being part of a group of WRs and TEs that are basically all in their 2nd or rookie seasons, all of whom could be a part of a playoff caliber team with some growth.

And also no, this has nothing to do with not being able to see past the long ball.  I care far less about that than I do having a QB that can properly throw a pass that is 20 yards downfield, but to the sideline and from the opposite hash.  Bryce can't drive that throw at an NFL level, he has to feather it in there and we've seen that pass get overthrown, broken up, or picked off too many times because of it (not to mention the under throws when he's trying it off balance).

That some people still can't see that undeniable fact is what I struggle to understand and take them seriously.
