What's up with hunter renfrow

An uninspired passing attack that ranked 28th in the league through week 7 (and that has probably worsened through week 8). No receiver is going to play in this situation and light the world on fire, much less one where the HC never really wanted the receiver in the first place. For me, it's not about the receiver as much as it is about QB play and coaching decisions. Even our WR1 who is having a fine showing as a rookie is being held back by ineffective QB play and questionable target share.

Oh well. Keep on using Tremayne and Jimmy

That's basically how I see it. He's obviously not washed. I've watched at least three vids showing how he was open and Bryce missing him. I've also seen evidence of him still putting people in a blender. But, if Bryce is going to miss him and Canales isn't going to use him, we may as well see what the young guys can do.

Renfrow basically is exactly who we thought he was.   He is a niche slot WR. But he doesn't fit the O or Bryce though.  Renfrow needs a pretty good QB and scheme to be of use.  Bryce Young flat can't even hit him when he is open.  Folks saying Renfrow hasn't been good or washed are letting Bryce defense get in the way.  It's also just denying reality we watched on the field of him being wide open over and over and Bryce not being able to hit the broad side of a barn.  He probably has the best hands on the team though.  He is the best short/classic slot route runner on the team and it's not really close.

but we need to be developing Tmac, XL, Coker, Tremayne and Horn.  I'd say only 2 guys are technically better than Renfrow right now in a vaccum and that is Tmac and Coker.

I suspect Coker can be better, but I haven't seen much evidence of Horn actually being better.

Nuanced route running should not be taken lightly.

If Horn ever reached the highest height that Renfrow has, I will be surprised. Coker may be able to do it, but it's certainly not a guarantee. I realize that Renfrow has been out of the game a few years, but I have seen evidence of him being his old self. That's also no guarantee, but I'm not certain that we'll ever be able to see any of these guysbteach their ceiling under the current circumstances.

A healthy scratch two weeks? I want him to succeed with us so bad. I need him to be our ricky proehl. Im hoping it's just his body getting back used to the pain.

Coker pretty much replaced him once we activated him. And we want Horn on the field so we can throw that one swing pass/run play to him like 5 times a game and hope it works once

When they put Horn on the field I already know the play. Its so predictable that Canales should be fired for that alone.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
