Acting as if QB doesn't matter is absurd. That's the first game this season Tee Higgins has reached 100 receiving yards BTW. He's been averaging 40ish yards a game with the QB's he had been playing with.

I didnt say it didnt but having those two are a big help for Flacco

Almost 41 year old Joe Flacco, in 3 games with the Bengals (and without any offseason program with them) has thrown for 1,035 yards and 9 TDs

Bryce Young, the #1 pick in the draft 3 years ago, in 8 games this year has thrown for 1,390 yards and 11 TDs

And the Bengals lose again and the Panthers win… go figure.

He didn't have a great game for sure, he didn't do anything in this game to convince me that he's the QB of the future besides being part of the victory today.

11/20  for 102 passing yards 0 TD, 1 INT, and  a fumble recovered by Chubba.

Bryce should be donating half his check to Rico Dowdle. Been saving his bacon this year.

Everyone shooting their wad today saying “see, I told yall Bryce was elite” needs to read this post several times until it sinks in.

We won scoring 16 points, they lost scoring 42.

If we put up 42 points in a loss while looking like a real life NFL team, I’d have been more encouraged by that than winning with how we looked today.

Winning today helps our current place in the standings, but actually improving as a team (or particularly as an offense) would help our long term outlook as a franchise under Canales and Bryce.

I'd rather win like we did today - our D shutting down the 'best' team in the NFC on the road.

I think now that you’ve posted this for the millionth time it’s finally going to work. Dan’s going to give up future assets to get Jameis in here so we can lose games and Tet might get enough yards to get into the OROY conversation. Canales is going to resign because winning this way, given the roster, is to the long term detriment to the team.

and yes, I called him Tet. Tet McMillan. Tetty Tet Tet Tet.

Did we really shut them down though?

They had 369 yards of offense.

That is 9 more yards than they average per game and 53 more than we give up per game this year.

If a team gave up 369 yards per game on defense, they'd be the 7th worst defense in the league this year.

Yes, I will give our defense credit for having the 4th down stand near our goal line as well as creating the fumble that stopped their first drive, as they did rise to the occasion then, but even the INT was just a ridiculous play/throw and handed it to us and they also missed a FG.

We didn't force them into a single punt all game.  We had 1 sack on a QB who had 37 pass attempts.

They had drives of 56, 49, 50, 43, 58, and 71 yards (while we only had 2 over 40 yards ourselves).

We bent, a lot, but never really broke, partially due to the Packers own mistakes, that's a far cry from "shutting them down" in my opinion.

Again, this is why I'm critical of us after a day like today, I'm able to look beyond a final score and evaluate how we played on the whole, and we keep squeaking out these wins despite not playing well at all.  And yes, that is what great teams do, but they also play well in the majority of their games, where as all we seem to do is squeak out ugly wins without ever playing all that well.

I'm not saying I'm unhappy that we won, I've never once said anything like that, but when week after week I see serious concerns with how we played, then I'm going to call out what I see.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
