Antonio Cromartie wants to come to Carolina

In a recent twitter conversation, cornerback Antonio Cromartie confirms he would like to be in Carolina...

In the tweet he seems to indicate there has been no interest returned his way, however. "Interest fro both sides" is apparently not there.

With the departure of Boykin yesterday, I highly doubt another veteran journeyman is signed to the Panthers roster. Dave Gettleman appears to be wanting to rip the bandaid off of the "rotating 1 year deal veteran player in the defensive backfield" issue.

If the Panthers ever wish to be truly special, they need their own guys in the secondary. Guys that have bought into the team long term and have been brought up within the system.

If Boykin's release is any indication, the Panthers think they have found those players in Bradberry, Worley, and Sanchez.

makes a lot of sense to me: a workable veteran with experience with Rivera in San Diego? Then again, Boykin made a lot of sense to me too. So what do I know. Then again, it's tough to see Carolina picking up a journeyman after they just dropped before even seeing him in training camp. I really am flabbergasted (aye, flabbergasted) by us cutting Boykin.

Just thinking about baseball helps.

I try to name all of the backup olinemen which leads to some internal discussion. "....williams, Scott, folkerts.... Wait. Do we still have folkerts? No, I think he is gone... Hmm when did we let him go? I wonder if my wife will see if I pull my phone out and check...."

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
