This is going to be kind of odd timing, given the other thread, but hey...

I'm retiring from the boards.  Fun as it's been, and as big a Panther fan as I still am, I think it's time for me to follow Jared Allen's example and ride off into the sunset.

To be clear, I'm not mad at anybody. I'm not upset about anything. I just have a lot going on with my family, primarily that my brother is dying. So I've decided to drop out of the online stuff for a while. Maybe permanently.

It's been fun talking football with everyone, though after getting married - and gaining two teenage kids in the process - I have far less time to talk football and other things. Other priorities have to take precedence now. Many of you will understand.

I'll likely be on the rest of the day just to say farewell but once I log off I won't be back.

I wish everyone the best. And always, always, always, go Panthers.

We haven't always agreed on everything, but I can honestly say that I think the Huddle will miss having you around.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I'll send positive thoughts your way.

Good luck to you in/with everything and maybe you'll get a chance to check back in down the road.

Sorry to hear about your brother @Mr. Scot.  I personally will miss your contributions here.  There has been a steady decline in the quality of posts on here.  So much so that I have almost decided to walk away myself.  When @SCP and @PhillyB stopped posting their weekly edicts on opposing teams this place lost a lot of luster for me.  And now you're leaving also, what will happen to this joint?

Anyway, sorry about your brother.  Prayers be with your family in this time of sorrow.  Keep Pounding old friend.

Sorry to hear about your brother. Sending my wishes to you and your family. I've enjoyed your content for the short time I've been around this joint. You're probably one of my favorite users on the Huddle.

Hope everything goes as well as it can for you. Thanks for all you've done.

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
