So What Is It Going to Take to Get Torrey Smith Off the Field?

  • This dude is catching 44 percent of his targets  (Lower than any of Ginns percentages while here while Torrey not even remotely a deep threat than Ginn was)
  • Went CATCHLESS the last game despite playing 65% of snaps
  • Constantly on the field despite drops, mishaps, and averaging less than 20 yards receiving PER GAME
  • DJ Moore constantly turns the vast majority of his targets into a gold mine of broken tackles and YAC while catching 75% of targets
  • In one game coming off heart surgery Samuel managed to get over half Torrey's yards and equal his TD total for the season in very limited snaps

What in the world is the excuse? There's nothing but evidence everywhere this dude is not contributing and stifling better talent

At least Funchess is solid and has a defined role as big guy chain mover. DJ and Samuel are the perfect YAC monster compliments to Funchess and Torrey is holding us the hell back

As bad as it sounds

Its honestly going to take an injury.

Forcing Rivera's hand is the only way your ever going to get the top players on the field.  Thats just how it has been under Rivera's time here.  Just too much loyalty for his vets

Lets not forget his blocking, it is horrid

The dude has been Nothing more than Russell Shepard last year.  The big argument last year was whatbit was going to take to put in Byrd over Shepard, consindering how good he looked in camp and preseaso .  It took a injury to Shepard for them to play Byrd at the end of last year.  When he got in, he flashed prior to getting injured

But he’s an amazing coach because we’re 3-1, and no one should dare mention he may not be the best HC or a good fit to lead the talent we have, right?  Did I nail the talking points?  By the way - not arguing your post, just tagging on my own sarcastic vitriol.

This. None of us want to wish injury on any of our guys, but historically it's been pretty much the only thing that has made Rivera move on from an ineffective vet.

Itll take 3 series ruined by him back to back to back.

Your typical catch and fumble for the first drive, then a wide open missed catch that pops up and is intercepted the second drive, then a 60 yard bomb for a should be TD but he trips over himself at the 2 yard line and fumbles.

Then...and only then..will he be benched outside of injury.

    • I think a premier ILB in the Panther's tradition (Beason, Mills, Luke, Morgan) would be the best pick and the best way to improve this team. Here me out---those of you screaming for QB need to realistically approach the situation.  We are not drafting a QB early barring a late season Young meltdown.  Bryce is getting a fifth year--and he will start in 2026 and probably in 2027 barring some major meltdown.  This season has a ton of "fallen angels" or QBs with the skill set to develop into an NFL starter.   In the second or third round, you draft your possible qb of the future.  Scratch these probable first rounders: however, the next six or seven have tremendous potential, and if you draft a QB like the Packers do and develop him for 2-3 seasons, these QBs would give us an upgrade at #2 QB and 2 years to groom him in the event Bryce does not earn a huge second contract. About WR:  Coker is a solid #3 and Horn gives us a thrilling option on STs and in the slot.  He was a nice pick.  TMac needs a strong #2.  XL does not seem that interested in the job, and he seems a bit over his head in the NFL.  Yes, we could use a solid WR, but I am not sure a rookie.  I think we pinch some pennies and redo some OL contracts and make WR our biggest priority in free agency.  Draft a sleeper late. Tight End:  Do we have enough there?  I really like Mitchell, but I am not sure about Sanders and Tremble is who he is.  Do we have a threat?  I think Bryce loves his checkdowns and underneath routes--he's not had a Stud TE.  I want one.  (platonic)  They are usually still available in round 3. Safety:  Not sure we have the center fielder we need at FS.  Moehrig and Ransom might be the same thing.  And if it were not for Doc in "Back to the Future," nobody in Charlotte would ever say "Great Scott!"  We need a smart, defensive QB at S, in my opinion. Of course, OL (center, T) could be in play, but I like Mays as the starter at C and Moton could play another season or two.  We need to start grooming guards, but we have depth there now. My draft day order, by position: Linebacker  Have we ever been good without the best ILB in the NFL?  I don't think so. (3-4 now, but we run some 4-3 looks) QB #2 with long-term starting potential  (I like so many second-tier QBs.  one or two of them will become NFL starters.  Mark my words) Tight End  (lotta folks might disagree here, but a big-time, viable option to go with Mitchell, Sanders, and Tremble) Safety  (we need a QB for the D--Moehrig and Ransom are similar) Tackle (Moton is getting old and we need to start grooming a potential replacement) WR  (this late IF we sign a free agent) Center (I like Mays, but his contract status and the depth at C needs to be addressed)
    • I would be fine with that, the kid can sling the rock.
    • Panthers open as 4.5 point favorites. You get three points for being at home so Vegas thinks we are only 1.5 points better than the one win saints..  Tells you what they think about the team and our ability to score
