Would the Panthers be interested in Greedy Williams?

I see no way around DL-- DE without question.  Oliver?  Maybe, but I better have a plan for DE  if I take him.

Addison and Haynes are all we have under contract, and frankly, the others are liabilities in  terms of pass rush.  They can't get to the QB.  Addison is 32.

The Panthers need a free agent and a first round rookie.  It is possible that Ferrell or Gary is there in round 1.  I imagine a sober Hurney would take either, in that order.

Pass rushing DEs are hard to find in free agency and when you do, you can't afford them.  We have not given the position its due in the draft (Ealy was a nice try).  We need a stud at DE and all DBs get better.

Unfortunately, nearly all teams drafting in the top 10 need edge rushers.

He's good, but if we're going CB that early, I think I prefer Byron Murphy.

Greedy Williams

6'3 183 Pounds

2 years of play time

8 INT (1 in his only Bowl Game)

20 Passes Defended

Byron Murphy

LSU played much much better teams but both guys miss far too many tackles and attack ankles. That is the knock on both of them which I would attribute to size in terms of weight. Based on top CB play in the NFL the smallest CB that is a top 20 CB in the NFL weighs about 192 pounds but most are just under or just over the 200 pound mark. So both of these guys will have to bulk up a bit for the NFL if they want to be a starting CB in the NFL. Of the two, I would be a little worried what adding 10 pounds does more to Murphy than to Williams. It is hard to find 40 yard dash data on the two of them but coaches have clocked Greedy at 4.2 which likely means 4.39 speed or 4.41. Both guys are just a month apart in age.

Murphy generated a lot of buzz for his pick 6 that he returned for like 60+ yards but look at the play... He got beat on a third and 5 for an easy 15 yard gain and the WR fell down trying to make the catch and bobbled it up to where Murphy could come clean it up and return it.

I think slot was a major weakness.. we don’t know anything about cockrell. If you draft a defensive tackle he right away comes in behind Poe and short sorta of like butler was being star and short. I don’t like the idea of taking  a luxuary defensive tackle when you can get starters right away.

any lineman drafted in the top 10 will be starting

Any informed fan of the team thinks Greedy would be a luxury pick... a luxury we don't have, unfortunately. If we spend some serious coin, in the trenches, in March then maybe... but probably not even then.

We have too many holes and CB isnt even the need in the secondary.

LB Devin Bush wouldn’t be a bad pick. TD is old and Shaq might be gone

Are you high? There’s no reason we should pick a linebacker in the first round.

In my opinion it’s Bosa > Greg Little/Jonah Williams > Clelin Ferrel > Greedy Williams. We need to get better up front. I wouldn’t mind trading future picks/players to go up and get Bosa.

Greedy is a top 5 pick in any draft

And the top CB out of DBU since Peterson.   Dude is more hyped than Lattimore for the Saints when he came out

If he is there we will grab him amd just wait and get one of those talented DL that will still be around in the 2nd.  You just dont turn down a talent like that when your secondary, while isnt the biggest weakness, it is still shaky and your #1 CB is going into his final year of his contract
