Basically the consensus is that CMC is more likely to get it than Kamara b/c of how the Saints are more prone to use 2 backs. IDK if that's applicable now even though they signed Latavius Murray, no one knows exactly how much playing time he's going to get.

Even though we used CMC a lot last year, we have new blood in the RB room , and its a pretty common belief that DJ and Samuel are going to arrive this season. Couple with Greg possibly being healthy again, I wouldn't be surprised to see more rushing yards from CMC but less receiving yards.

What do you think?

I think CMC gets it. We have so many weapons now that DC’s won’t be able to just take him out of the game.

It’s scary when your check down deserves the same or more attention than your #1 read. CMC is that guy though.

Kamara had his chance last year when Ingram was out for the first 4 games.  They couldn't run the ball at all until they played the Giants.  Kamara may get 1000 yards receiving before CMC, but he may never get 1000 yards rushing.

Honestly I hope CMC doesn't get it because that would mean Ron is likely overusing the crap out of him. We have RB2 and RB3. If he plays CMC like they played Cam the first part of his career, I don't think we will have him a long time before the injuries start showing up. Not saying CMC isn't a durable guy, but all those hits add up and I'd like to keep him for a while.

A 1, 000 yards rushing?  Yes, but receiving, I would probably think not.  If so that could mean Greg is injured again and/or one, if not both, of our young wide-outs are still struggling to break out.  I can't see CMC getting 1,000 yards in the passing game if he's legitimately splitting touches with 3 other weapons.  Not to mention with his shoulder hurting, Cam undoubtedly checked down more than he really wanted to.  That said, I know the RB in Norv's system is like another WR, but again, last year considering all the variables I just laid out, It was more of a forced issued due to circumstance (Greg/Cam injuries and greenhorn WRs).  CMC obviously has the ability to top that maker, however, I don't see this being a one-man show this season.

I think it's almost a given Greg will be hurt eventually, I hate to say.     I moreso hope we're using Moore/Samuel more etc.

Well, the hope is that CMC doesn't have a 1000/1000 year just simply because the wealth of weapons allows those yards to be spread pretty evenly. If that doesn't happen, or there is a spate of injuries(again) then I could certainly see a CMC 1000/1000 scenario. I think the situation is similar for Kamara, if he ends up as a 1000/1000 guy then something probably went wrong for NO.

I think he gets it on less carries and receptions.  Because with more offensive weapons folks won't be able to key on CMC like they did last year when he was most of the offense. His average yards per carry and yards per reception may well go up.

I think CMC’s best chance at accomplishing the feat came last year. With quite a few weapons on the offense, I still see him eating, but he won’t get 1000 yards receiving.

Kamara won’t come near accomplishing it.

I agree, CMC might get fewer opportunities if Samuel, Moore and the others get more use.  On the other hand, we might see his yp carry/catch go up.

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
