Every pass blocking rep from Greg Little

yeah watching that cut-up put it in a bit better context for me. Little looked pretty good. 2 bad reps where he got swimmed. 2 meh reps where he might have lost balance but the play didn't collapse because of it. and his last 5-8 reps were the best ones. completely shut down the left side with no TE help whatsoever. against 3rd stringers, but still the production was there.

This thread doesn't surprise me. Pretty predictable for a pick that wasn't liked by the masses, and 1 game into preseason.

The truth of it, he didn't play as bad as people want to.make it out to be.

Stop assigning extra value to him because of how he was acquired. It doesn't matter.

He's flaws are fixable. Our coaching staff will fix him.  He needs more reps and should get plenty during the preseason.

People say his footwork is bad but I thought I read somewhere when he was good on his feet.

He may not be starter material now but I believe he will eventually get there.  Hopefully our starting lineup stays healthy and he doesn't have to learn by trial by fire.

If you really watch in college and then against the Bears he has gotten better.  At Ole Miss it was good technique bad technique every other play and got away with it because he has great foot quickness.  Against the Bears I only saw about 3 bad pass drops where he got his nose over his toes.  Much better than college.  Not one run set was in that highlight film but I dont remember one time they ran toward his side, it was always the right side they ran toward.

So is he better than what he was in college? Yes.  Is he perfect like the huddle expects? No.  But if he had to start the entire year he would be better than some guys we have had over there (Bryon Bell) and probably no worse than last year.  Just going on the Bears game.  Can he keep that up through the preseason?  I have no idea.

The one I would be worried about is the SC kid.  He missed at least 2 blitz pickups.  One Little pealed off and picked up the inside guy the other sacked Allen.  With him its not technique its assignment and that can get a QB killed.

Couple of thoughts:

1. If Little were a 5th round pick, I think we'd all be ecstatic about now. It's disappointing to think he's going to need some serious development time, but then again, it was his first game. I'm willing to wait and see how much he improves by game 4.

2. No way he starts at LT to open the season, barring injury.

3. The Panthers scheme was pretty obvious. Get the ball out of the QB's hands, quickly. That really only works if they have the receivers to get open quickly. It was pretty apparent that, yeah, they do, and that's without seeing Samuel, Moore, Wright, Olsen, CMC, etc. This is really good news.

4. Cam tends to hold on to the ball longer, waiting for routes to develop. I'd be interested (and slightly worried) to see how Little holds up when the ball isn't out of the QB's hands in under 2.5 seconds.

Little was able to get away with less-than-stellar technique in college. That was obvious by the comments the coaches made. How quickly he can clean that up will determine his success. HOPEFULLY, he gets into games this year, but not forced to do so. I still think he is better than what the Panthers had there last year, so if that is the floor, so be it.

I dont think he was anhones favorite pick in the second round but the panthers were clearly enamoured with him. But if your going to gamble I love what they have done here recently gambling on former 5 star recruits who didnt pan out and see if you can get a deal on kids who clearly have the talent but didnt quite hit the mark. Little, Miller, and kyle allen were all former 5 star recruits.

He is looking like a project this year. He looked on par with the 3rd stringers and bad for a backup. Hopefully we will not see him during the season because he looks no where near ready to protect our QB against NFL starters.

Alarming would be Larson. He was getting manhandled and looked terrible. For a guy with his experience I was hoping for a step forward, not backward.
