The word from Rhule

I don't believe he's fake. I don't doubt that he's a good man. There are too many people testifying to that.

I just don't care.

I'm not looking for him to be a pastor or a spiritual leader. I'm looking for him to be an NFL head football coach.

If he's good at that, then I'll be happy.

I never said he was fake. I think he’s genuine but that only comes out when he’s not in preacher mode.

I agree with a lot of this except I don’t accept the premise that Rhule is swindling. That would only be true if he made statements he couldn’t or didn’t intend to back up. Using charisma to put your best foot forward is not inherently dishonest. If he is committed to things he said in the video, then there’s nothing dishonest about it.

I am concerned about Tepper’s seemingly overly emotional decision here. I agree this does not convey the impression this is a decision he’s coming at from a coldly rational place.

However when you sat that his greatest skill is selling himself and not coaching, his record at Temple and Baylor suggest he must know a thing or two about coaching. What remains to be seen is how well that transfers to the NFL. From what I’m hearing I think it’s possible his strengths might transfer well and also possible that they might not.

I'm with you.  I felt like suiting up during his introduction, lol.  He's got some great motivational speaking skills.  That can absolutely translate immediately.  The challenge will be sustained success.  I like the idea of doing everything the best each day.  It certainly worked on college kids, now it will be very interesting to see how well his message wears on the team.  If the team is getting better and closer to success, then we'll have a good thing.

The devil is going to be the coordinators.  He's going to have to get really good coordinators with a a good scheme since that's not his strength.

It’s honestly what I don’t like about him. Just comes across as fake to me. But that’s just me. Whenever he’s being asked questions he’s wayyy more personable.

i know the South will love that schtick though.

Yeah, I'm far too cynical to get fired up by his preacher-speak, but I don't care. We've seen what he's done at Temple and Baylor. All I care about is that he gets the Panthers players to praise the lord.

Can I get an amen!!!

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
