Who is the one “NFL GUY” in the building you can trust right now? If this rebuild the was brainchild of a seasoned, front office vet with limited blemishes on their track record, or a proven HC with NFL credentials, I could see more fans getting on board with it.

No one. It's a needless hail marry. We looked at a couple of QB coaches with experience and one asistant GM that should have been our GM, we got nothing. It's just looking bad. I think as the Free Agency period and draft wraps up we will know evem more but at this point, i dont expect much in the way of positives.

I don't know if Rhule or Brady will be good, but Rivera did have a track record of sucking with young players.  In todays NFL, a player shouldn't take 3 years to make an impact on the field, if you got a talent, even in a late round, you find a way to get him on the field, something that Rivera just flat out refused to do even when he had old broken vets.

Having a designated fall guy is useful. Well, probably not because everyone will see right through it but honestly I have to think that's Marty's primary purpose. If Tepper truly does think that Marty is the guy to oversee a rebuild then we're in a lot bigger trouble than I thought.

I get that nothing has happened lately, so posters are left to theorize, but you guys are going a little crazy with the Marty Hurney = Machiavelli thing. I'd put his first round selections up against any other GM. As 'easy' as everyone seems to think it is to make first round selections, a lot of teams bust on them. Hurney is under contract until after the draft, and so Tepper loses nothing if he keeps him around, just to hear his input on first round selections.

If Hurney ends up sticking around as GM and runs this roster into the ground, you can flame me all you want. I still think he's gone or relegated to the basement when his contract is up.

I couldn't name anyone I trust that much.

Jerry Jones started his multiple super bowl run with the cowboys about 3 years into his ownership.  I hope we have a Jerry Jones scenario on our hands.

Valid point. And he also hired an unproven college coach in Jimmy Johnson that went on to win two Super Bowls. In that case, yes, I'd definitely take that.

But, I meant more so the current revision of Jerry Jones.

If we're being realistic, Joe Brady is possibly an ever bigger gamble than Rhule.

Granted, he was a hot name (arguably the hot name) but how many "hot names" have we seen spectacularly fail?

Yep. Not a lot of elaborate blitz packages in the NFL and even a marginal nfl player is the best of the best from college

better hope Brady did, in fact, learn something from his time with the Saints

The entire reason for his rise to game was bringing pro concepts of the Saints to the NFL.  In theory he should have a good understanding of NFL  blitz packages.

We will see if he can call plays.

Somebody was going to snatch Brady if we didn’t. That much is certain. He’s too hot a name to stay in the college ranks.

Rhule? For all we heard about NYG loving him, it’s hard to say if he’d have really ended up there. Or in Cleveland. Nothing against him because I really like his leadership capabilities. I just think Brady is the more justifiable at this point.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Marty "retire" rather than be fired or demoted.

For a guy with a rep for being ruthless, Tepper sure does seem to care about whether or not he hurts Marty's feelings.

I'm not a Tepper fan either but let's not put the cart before the horse.

Cam Newton himself said he would absolutely be here, the franchise QB, saying he will absolutely be here, and everybody here is resigned to the fact he is gone. I don't get it.

Because ultimately at the end of the day it’s not Cam’s decision and the people who’s decision it is keep using the same lines being extremely non-committal. If we wanted Cam back for sure they would have said so already. But it’s just “if he’s healthy” “we’ll see when the time comes.” over and over.

If he is not healthy he won't be a QB for any team.
