Yes because he's shown that he has the tools to be a dominant defensive tackle in his career outside of this 2020 hell season. We aren't getting gashed left and right like last year. Running backs aren't getting 5 to 6 yards a pop like they were towards the tail end of last year by meh running backs.

Fournette gets one large run because Whitehead blows donkey balls.

Josh Jacobs is a workhorse but the negative Nancy's thought he would have 200 yards on us.

Idk i just haven’t seen it in these past two games i know he’ll get better . Honestly our defense looked pretty damn good in that second half vs bucs other than that big run late . Idk what that mean but hey I’ll take it

I'd really like to draft someone in the first round that actually can play NFL football without a 2-3 year development cycle. First round picks are not supposed to need THIS MUCH development.

I can understand teaching them more at the position, but he should be able to at least shed blocks and tackle a RB.

HE... HAS.... PLAYED.... 2 GAMES.

This may be b.s but at the time I read that we were trying to trade down from our pick and that no other teams were interested. Brown is a run stuffer, not some sort of Kris Jenkins sack machine. Brown can't get push on big o-linemen, see the Alabama game. Couldn't move that 345 pound o-lineman an inch. Brown is here to stop the run, and it's to soon to decide if he can do that.

See the Alabama game ? Are you stupid? Go back and look at the last series where he made all the plays on every down to seal the game. You guys  are friggin nuts. You guys deserve this ish franchise.

What you need to look at in the Bama game is Derick Brown versus Deonte Brown on pass rushing plays. I think Brown will be a good run defender in time. I'm not sure what has you shot out of cannon but I'm guessing caffeine or alcohol might be involved.

PFF were not fans of Derrick Brown during the draft process, they're just patting themselves on the back after a poor 2 first career games.

That is a bit of an overstatement.  If I remember correctly they thought he would be a really good player, with a really high floor, but they had some concerns about him being able to rush the passer consistently. Drafting a guy top 15 instead of top 10 i wouldn't really consider "not a fan of".

In a lot of ways they thought he was a really safe pick so to bash him now would pretty much make them look bad, not patting themselves.

He's been seeing double teams most of the time. He still hasn't played particularly well but it's a little early to jump off the cliff about him. If we are still talking about the same things in Week 14, 15, 16, 17, yeah, it's time to worry.

Is he though?  Or is that what we keep telling ourselves to make us feel better about the draft pick?  Has anyone actually took the time to actually focus on him on every snap to see how often he really is getting double teamed?

Brown wasn’t even my pick, I liked the guy from SC. But I damn sure didn’t want Simmons. Brown has done well enough to me for his first two games with the way the offseason was. He’s taking double teams, not getting pushed back often, getting penetration occasionally. He’s making mistakes too, that’s gonna happen even with top ten picks. I’m not worried about him at all. He’s the ONLY player on our DL I’m not worried about so far. Brown has had a couple splash plays that were nice, but he’s also been ineffectual a lot. Over pursuing, getting manhandled, stuff I hope gets corrected. I still think he could be really good, but I’d say Brown is further along than Burns at this point...

How does PFF take into consideration double teams? If Brown is our DT and he is taking a double team without losing his position, shouldn’t that count as positive points? I’m assuming it doesn’t count for anything and his rookie penalties are negative points. If he can hold our line despite double teams I will call it a win. Our rush defense already looks better than last year and that’s without Luke.

You remember, incorrectly.
