I heard Little had a confidence problem coming into this year, after that game panthers may want to keep check on him.

Its not over for Little, but he got sooooo much work ahead of him. I dont know if he wants it or not, feel bad for the OL coach.

The big knock on him coming out was that despite the physical tools, he just didn't have the nastiness that you want in an offensive lineman.

TBH, I don't think he really wants it that much. With those type of guys, there really isn't much you can do with them.

I mean if Little has trouble with outside speed rushes, inside moves, and bull rushes......maybe youre not cut out for OL. How are his hands??? Lose 100 LBs and become a TE, may be?...?

I wasnt a big fan, but agreed with the pick mainly cause Smarty Marty spend so much time on him. Combine, pro-day, and one of the 30 vists were used. OL coach(gone to washington) was at the pro-day along with Marty. They spent lots of resources and came away wanting Little even with the red flags. He needs about the maximum help any player needs, reminds me of Nate Chandler going form DL to OL. Nate put in effort and had a nasty side, no idea on Little. The only idea I have is for Little to live in the weight-room form now until next year, gaining strength will help his confidence. Then it comes to getting 5,000 reps. I could not imagine the OL coach thought process, "At minimum you want a block of clay, Little looks like re-dried dirt"

Confidence problem? Sounds like an excuse. More like he has an attitude problem along with a technique problem compounded by a physical limitation problem resulting in poor confidence from being very bad at his profession.

We also used three of our visits on Erik McCoy, Maxx Crosby and Bobby Evans (started half of last year at RT, would be a G for us). We could have had McCoy and either of the others instead of Little.

I also keep hearing about all the tools he has. Reminds me of Rivera saying Gaulden was athletic. Combine numbers don’t have Little as anything special at all. Combine his not so great physical tools with intangible issues and you have what you have.

What did we come up with for a final draft. At the time I know both of us were pounding the table for something like this.....

1) Burns

2)McCoy

3)Crosby/ Evans

3b)CGJ

And Omenihu....lol.

But drafting is hard?

Yep. Overall, I think the Combine is overrated as a player evaluation tool but what it is very good at is a raw athlete evaluation tool. The stopwatch and measuring tapes don't lie.

He's scared of getting another concussion. Every single play he's shying away from contact.

I don't know. I remember a couple of clips from his college days where it looked the same. Maybe but not sure

Very useful tool, IMO.

Now, 40 times may not be, but the explosion workouts, the fluidity that needs to be seen, the mental processing, etc....I love the combine, apparently Marty doesn't know what he's seeing when he's there....is there a really good meatball shop right there in Indy?

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
    • Bryce’s deep passes are intermediate passes for other strong armed QBs. I will say that Bryce’s accuracy on his deep passes have improved. Before they would just sail out of bounds. Now the WR actually has a fighting chance on the ball.
