Are we content with what we're getting from Derrick Brown

About midway through the season and im curious how the huddle feels about our defacto number 1 pick. When the National media is latching more so onto our second round pick.  My stance hasn't changed. If your drafting to ten you want a guy who is a superior athlete who can be the quarterback, protect the quarterback or get after the quarterback(skilled position players are weighed differently).

Brown shows promise in the run game. It was his defining traits we knew he was country strong and would be good to go there. But I was solid on the promise he would develope a pass rush repertoire and would be an asset there. Naturally running a 5.0 40 made me question that, would have been enough to say the overall athletic profile isn't there to be a asset in this department. We have seen even on passing downs brown comes out and they like to sub in guys.

My question to you guys are you content with getting a space eater with a top 7 pick?

I'm happy with Brown and I think he'll continue to get better. Chinn outshining him isn't a bad thing. He's outplaying the majority of first round draft picks.

No gripes about Brown. Has to be the worst situation a rookie could come in to with the virus limiting everything, new coaching staff..etc.

Same as others above. I’m content, but also believe Brown will improve and become more of a disruptor in the next couple of years.

He’s fine. Has a tendency for careless penalties though that’s hopefully just the rookie in him.

Very pleased with him.  If he continues to grow his iq and pass rush moves he will be elite

He's going to be a stud.  You've got to look at his production in context.  How often is Phil Snow only rushing three?  Why should we expect any NT, much less a rookie NT to be piling up tons of sacks and QB pressures when on passing downs, they're alone against two linemen?  To suggest he should be doing more in the pass rush on these downs is to have unrealistic expectations.  He's flashed in both the run and the pass game and he's going to anchor the middle of that defensive line for years to come.

I am very happy with him. Can he improve? Absolutely. Is he worth the pick? Yep.

Very happy with him! He’s playing great against the run and the pass. His 6 Tackles for loss ties him for 2nd place (1 shy behind the leaders) among all DT’s. He’s also commanded double teams already.

He and Burns get doubled quite frequently and are still get a good amount of QB pressures. Put a decent 3 tech next to Brown next season and watch what happens.
