Dane Brugler's First Mock Draft is...surprising

I'm starting to like Wilson better than Fields, but there's something bugging me about him.

Some of the talk about Wilson is that while he has the right skill set, they're not sure how well he'll physically hold up in the NFL

That's basically the same read people had on Bridgewater when he was up for the Draft.

That...scares me.

The problem with Wilson is that he doesn't play anybody.

He looks sensational at times, but he's playing St Mary's School for the Blind.

He's a better athlete than Bridgewater though, if that helps.

I think it’s like people saying they preferred Lance or Fields over Lawrence. Sometimes the known entities get questioned because they’ve been there so long that everyone has seen the LSU game (and maybe only that) and the unknowns get that shiny new toy feel.

Lawrence and Fields were the top rated players (all positions) when they came out and it’s hard to say they’ve done anything to dispute that.

Man, after watching the Tedster go 3-8, it sucks that we didn’t Grier our way to a draft slot that was close enough to entertain a trade up for Lawrence. I know it won’t happen, but lord almighty it would be fun to see Trevor throwing to Moore, Anderson, Samuel and CMC. I still don’t understand they I’d rather go 5-11 as if starting Grier and hoping for 2-14 to get a potential stud is bad.

Why can’t we hope to get a Peyton or Mahomes or Brady or Rodgers? Wouldn’t that be nice? Great QB year and I can imagine squandering it for a attah boy we are 6-10 and no one thought we could do that. Just imagine Teddy still being the starter in 2022.

Mahomes was taken 10th (I was screaming for us to take him, we took McCaffrey instead), Rodgers was taken 24th (we picked Thomas Davis) and Brady was picked 199th (yeah I'm not listing who we picked ahead of him).

The game hasn't changed - bad QBs will be picked high. Good QBs will be picked in later rounds by teams that perform good evaluations.

It seems to be, as someone who takes a keen interest in the Draft, that people just want to draft a QB in the first round. Someone they've heard of 'cos he has to be our saviour. Besides Lawrence (who isn't actually as sensational a prospect as many make out), they've all got worrying flaws.

If we could somehow pull off a Fields/Lawrence switch like Manning/Rivers I might wet myself a little. I'm not sure if it would help but we could throw in Whitehead to sweeten the deal.

If we are going to let go of Whitehead, we should insist on getting Mahomes, Watson, or Murray.

If it's Mahomes, we should hold out until they are willing to swap Kelce for Manhertz to boot.
