Hypothetical Bridgewater Trade

After watching the Eagles win yesterday, I'd say it's more than likely that Jalen Hurts becomes the long term QB for the Philadelphia Eagles. That leaves them in a precarious situation with Carson Wentz, to whom the Eagles backed up the Brinks truck for. A thought came across my head after the game.

Should the Panthers not take a QB in this upcoming draft (for whatever reason) and if Wentz was willing to restructure his contract (to Bridgewater salary levels) would you trade Teddy Bridgewater for Carson Wentz straight up?

Philly gets a mentor that can work with Hurts on the finer parts of the game while the Panthers get a former MVP candidate reclamation project. Is Penei Sewell + Wentz better than a choice of Wilson/Lance/Trask? I don't know but it's an interesting thought.

Thought I might share a potential alternative solution for replacing Teddy besides drafting Wilson/Lance/Trask.

Thoughts?

I don't think there is any amount of restructuring of Wentz's contract that would make the numbers pan out.  That is one contract that I think makes Hurney jealous.

So, it would have to be a Philly release and FA signing.  That isn't going to happen because the dead cap he would carry for the Eagles would be approaching 1/3 of the salary cap next year, more if the worst case cap were to become reality.

Then add the fact that he has looked bad at almost any salary.

Not a bad idea to explore.  Philly would bear the brunt of the signing bonus stuff, which makes it not probable.

I mentioned it a week ago, as Carson is loved by teammates and they think it is not his fault for their bad play.  Sometimes a change of scenery is good for all involved.

    • They will be if they extend Young but I don't think we're there just yet. Morgan and Canales are tied and I don't believe Tepper is going to go look for a new front office for Bryce as things stand.
    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
