My guess is Rhule is going to be making the selections draft time unless Tepper has someone they’re targeting.

The big concern now is that the team just hires some Matt rhule yes man

Rhule has shown a lot of positives but he isn't ready for this

As much as this move desperately needed to happen, like always in these situations I still feel a twinge of guilt for celebrating someone losing their job.

It is pretty savage to fire someone on the week of Christmas.  I do wonder what triggered the move now, because I'm still pretty confident that this was going to happen all along.  Tepper just wanted more time to wait for ideal candidates.

I do wonder who pushed for Teddy the most.  A lot of people say it was Brady or Rhule, but I'm not 100% convinced of that.  Not saying they didn't have input, as I'm SURE they did, but it also wouldn't surprise me if Hurney was the guy pushing for it the most.  He had far bigger of an incentive for this team to have success in 2020 than they did.

I’m ok with one draft being Rhule’s if that’s what it took to get Marty out the door but you’re absolutely right that we need someone outside of Matt’s people.

im really wondering if Colbert from the Steelers is gonna come on board in some role for the short term.

The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with general manager Marty Hurney.

The Panthers announced the decision Monday, saying a search for Hurney's replacement will "begin immediately."

Hurney's contract was set to expire in June.

"I think sometimes you just need a restart, a refresh," Panthers owner David Tepper said as part of an announcement from the team. "We did it last year on the coaching side. Maybe you could say it should have been done before on the GM side. Maybe it should have been. I'm sure people may say that, or otherwise, on both sides.

"I think it's just time, on both sides, to do that. It just seems like the right time to move forward."

Tepper also announced first-year coach Matt Rhule would be involved in the Panthers' GM search.

"You look at successful organizations, and there's a certain alignment between the head coach and the GM," Tepper said as part of the statement. "To think that you can do that without some sort of alignment is nuts. So to not have a head coach with some input into that is stupid. I don't want to be stupid, OK?"

Rhule tells the GM the type of players he needs, the GM goes out and finds him those players

It is how it should work.  I doubt Rhule is going to be taking all of the GM's responsibilities.

Well, at least Tepper is admitting that Marty should've hit the door with Ron and company.

    • Lol. The Texans are literally one of Bryce's six career NFL wins. WTF are you talking about?
    • Yeah, I mean it is a statistical fact and also part of literally a player evaluation. Winston has literally lost dozens of games in his NFL career due to crippling TO's. It's just who he is. Look, it's fun when those insane throws work and he is leading you back from some crazy deficit. But those success are rare. It's why his career GWD count is so low. He's fun but he is fundamentally built to lose games.  If you are talking about a backup QB, you are literally already losing in the first place. That's how you see a backup QB and that's overwhelmingly what they tend to do. Rookie QB's almost always benefit from veteran QB's. Same as literally any other position in the NFL. Why do you think that you so often hear that from the playera themselves? As for Bryce NEEDING one, no he sure as poo shouldn't this late in the game. But he also shouldn't have needed this fuging long to get his fuging footwork straightened out either. Yet here we are.
    • Comfortability is the primary reason. They don't want to hurt Bryce's confidence. But I say if his confidence is that fragile that healthy competition which makes everyone better is enough for them to keep making Andy Dalton rich then Bryce was never going to be the guy anyway. Give me the QB who sees the competition amongst his peers and uses it to take it to the next level. Instead we get the guy who comes out looking like a deer in the headlights against the Texans after we've done everything possible to appease him. Definition of complacency.
