State of the Huddle 2021

Agreed with the post above that just because the calendar turned to a new year that things will magically improve.  I come here to discuss football, Panthers football.  There are plenty of outlets to talk about things like *politics* other than this forum.

2020 was a tough year to be a panther fan. Olsen was released and resigned with a former rival. Everyone's favorite player in Kuechly retired, and our iconic QB Newton was let go.

Couple that with covid and the elections and it becomes a shitty year.

The outlook for the team looks good.

We will have a new GM.

The coach acknowledges that the QB play was not good enough.

We are on the right side of the rebuilding scale relative to the rest of the team in the NFCS.

Good times a head.

This was a tough year, in real life more so than in the Huddle. Working from home and with most of the year spent in virtual quarantine, this (and other forums online) is almost the only socializing and community I have these days. Thanks mighty Zod, for maintaining the Huddle. It gives us something to think and bitch about other than politics and pandemics.

This past year, particularly the last few months have been probably the hardest time in my life. I have been in a deep dark depression. I'm sorry if I lashed out at anyone on here. I pray 2021 is better.

I feel you man. Not just been this past year. But it definitely has made everything exponentially more challenging. Doesn’t do well for ppl  battling depression. 2021 will be better times.

Yuuus for removing the homepage.

Something that could be neat-o: Pinning prudent/good threads in the offseason to keep the better football related content at the top.  Not just signings/big moves/hires/etc.

Also @Zod Would love to receive the forum's saxist position.

I've stopped posting a lot but still come here for updates and getting the Panthers content.

Liking the new updates @Zod ...and having Zod back full time.

Think a rep reboot could be fun and closing the politics forum for a month or so.

Hey Davos I miss you’re ole Davos  game of

Thrones avatar .

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
