NFL execs: it’s going to take 3 first rounders at least for DeShaun Watson.

Just a 'best case' scenario here for us on an upward trajectory...

Pick #8 in 2021 - CMC level

Pick #24 in 2022 - Shaq level

Pick #28 in 2023 - Vernon Butler level

If you wouldn't trade those 3 players for a Top 5 franchise QB, welp.  And yes, we could draft HOF unicorns with all 3 of those firsts, just like we could draft Ryan Leaf level busts for the next 3 drafts.  If the price is 3 1st rounders and that's it, no brainer call it in.  If it's 3 firsts AND players, then it's a potential issue.

That's an interesting take but you also have to consider that you cannot predict where those other 2 first's will fall.  They could just as easily be CMC level as easily as they could be Vernon level.

You could also draft a Pro bowl level QB anywhere in the draft or even an UDFA.  It's a crapshoot.

This is a losers bet by going all in on one player.

Any conversation that includes vernon Butler as part of a "best case scenario" is flawed.  Great players can be picked anywhere in the draft.  Having a pick between 25 and 32 does not equate to lesser talent.  It often does mean lesser positional value.  Devil's advocate scenerio.

Pick 8 in 2021.  Shutdown corner or gamebreaking new breed MLB that replaces luke.  I.e. Surtain or Parsons.

Pick 19 in 2022.  A left tackle or wr overlooked that becomes class of draft like wirfs or Justin Jefferson this past year.

Pick 28 in 2023.  Overlooked and underappreciated QB slips in draft and turns out to be MVP type.  Like Lamar Jackson.

Just saying.  Yeah I get it watson is a winning lottery ticket but what if your trading a one time payoff for three winners that could result in a Dynasty.

Panthers need to stay disciplined here. Three 1st is way too much.  If it were just about players thats one thing but this presents us with an absolute awful cap situation with no way to aquire top talent through the draft.  I think Stafford would be mote manageable.

Both of which we have to rebuild anyway currently without a top three QB in the NFL.

How the fug are you going to rebuild once you're cap strapped to his contract and trade all your picks away ? It's likely going to take even more than 3 firsts

I put some used underwear on facebook marketplace for 10 bucks a pair knowing good and well they would eventually sell for 6

This is why I love capitalism.  An exchange between willing buyers and sellers  sets the free market price for used underwear at $6.  No price supports, no production caps or quotas.  Well done, Jeremy, we’ll done.  [Polite golf clap 👏]
