No sorry, the Dolphins have a much better argument. See my post above. I’m not discounting what we have, only putting it in perspective and comparison. ‘Talented’ players. If they’re compelling as trade capital that means they’re NOT compelling for Watson only to the Texans.

The Texans do not have to be interested in Darnold or Tua because they’d likely get the 2 or 3 pick in the draft for a new QB. Not so with 8. That is much more appealing for a franchise that *should* be rebuilding.

You guys can keep fooling yourselves saying the Panthers have just as much to offer as the Jets or Dolphins but if you’re considering the circumstances of the no trade clause and that both the Texans AND Watson will have to be satisfied, the Panthers are not remotely in discussion with those two teams unless Watson himself has a urning desire to only play for the Panthers no matter the cost which I find laughable.

Recent reports have the Dolphins brass focused on moving forward with Tua and not interested in Watson

3 first and CMC sounds cheap atp.  More like 3 first Burns and 2 2nds.

You're bidding against yourself at that level - even though i'd do it in a heartbeat.

Fact is, Jets and Dolphins aren't going to pay anywhere near that kind of haul when their staff will just think "**** it, at that price give me Wilson/Fields on a rookie deal".  We'll never have to match, let alone beat an offer like that

And your ok with that price? And for that why not just say Lawrence is up for grabs 2.

Yeah, I know...its gonna be sick in terms of cost.  We will pay it probably.

I’m hoping they are realistic enough to take back Teddy but doubt it.

The thing with the Jets is that they're currently set up to acquire a BUNCH of talent with all their additional picks.

So, theoretically, they could cash all of that in NOW to pick up this uber-Franchise QB monster that you can't possibly compete without. Sure, it slows down their rebuild somewhat (1 talented, guaranteed NFL player at the most important position of need rather than 3-4 potential talented NFL players) , but they're not selling their future for him - they'd just be resetting their Draft capital back to the norm.

The Jets and the Dolphins are the only two places that it makes sense for Watson to go. Everyone else, with that price tag, is selling their future for him. So unless you think the rest of your team is in place for 2-3 years and this guy is going to put you over the top, steer well clear.

All valid points. I do think we are that close though. Even without CMC, how many games would we have won this year with Watson instead of Teddy. KC and GB were both winnable.
Say we lose one of the Burns, Brown, Chinn, Jackson, YGM, young talent on defense or CMC and 3 first round picks. Ok that’s a huge price, but if we traded next year’s first and our 1st and 2nd to get the Dolphins number 3 pick and select Wilson or Fields most people would be ok with it. So think of it as one additional first rounder and a young player to upgrade Fields into Watson. Seems like a no brainer to me... The big thing is like you stated the Jets or Dolphins could outbid us....

Kyle Crabbs of TDN contradicted me on this one, he has stated that the Dolphins are interested, where as I have heard they are sticking with Tua. His sourcing on the Dolphins is likely more reliable than mine so I would go with that for now.

So this is bad for Panthers right?

Aaron Wilson said the Dolphins are "a popular team on his personal wish list".

Also mentioned that former teammate Kareem Jackson was trying to recruit him to Denver.

Just don’t send a Chinn or Burns. I feel like everyone else can be on the table.

Sadly from what I have seen Houston doesn't want offensive players they want young defensive players.  I would love to give them YGM but I believe they are going to want Burns, Brown or Chinn.

Watson for 3st, Burns and  Bridgewater.   They can use Bridgewater to gap whoever they may bring in or draft.

I just don't see how it can only be NYJ and us.  It seems to me there are or will be others if it gets announced.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
