Of course all the "Deshaun would never come to Carolina because Cam" talk wasn't accurate. There is much more to the story and Deshaun is smart enough to know that.

If Deshaun holds an interview and it comes from his mouth, then I believe it

Otherwise, it’s a rumor or heresay or news in a slow news period or potentially a team striving for a bidding war.

If you're the Jets/Dolphins brass, are you really going to move three 1sts when you're thinking fug it, just take Wilson on a rookie deal and put the finishing touches around him?  Said this before but it actually works towards our advantage that not such equivalent prospect is sitting presumably at #8, where that calculus becomes much less enticing.

they have to know this is their best path forward. my guess is by clamming up they're encouraging suitors to come forward with offers that'll blow the doors off. nick caserio wants to be calvin candy.

I would do 3 firsts for watson and no other player.  But anything more than that I am rolling the dice on the draft.  We have too many holes to be giving away a ton of picks

I just cannot fathom why anyone would want to play for the Jets...

That being said, if he went to the Dolphins we might be winners in that scenario.  Houston would likely get Tua, which may discourage them from drafting a QB.  Essentially, it'd free up a spot where a QB would have potentially been taken.  We could luck up and actually have one of the top four guys there at our pick.

My worry about this is that both of these teams, but especially the Jets, have extensive experience in knowing that a top QB draftee may not work out in the NFL. I think it's possible they could say "F it, we have no idea if Fields or Wilson will work out in the NFL, but we know Watson will, so let's just spend some of our picks on Watson. Instead of taking the unknown."

I've seen a lot of talk from national media about what a crapshoot this draft is going to be because the normal draft activities couldn't be done and the college season was messed up.  You may see teams prefer to go after veterans in trades and free agency (with the obvious caveat that the lower cap may limit free agency deals as well) than relying on the draft this year.

I am of the same mindset--Miami, if they are really ready to move on from their first round, coming off injury QB, and will give up a bunch of picks to do so...Or do they sit there and take Lance or Fields--or trade back a bit and GAIN a pick and take Lance or Fields?  Just does not make that much sense.  The Jets?  They are in position to get Wilson, and he is widely considered to be the best QB in the draft not named Trevor.  They need picks to build a bad roster--are they really going to trade away a first rounder in 2022 to get Watson over Wilson?  That makes no sense, which is why they might do it.

The Dolphins have some picks this year, but they are hardly a complete team.  They are the team, however, that threatens the Panthers' chances the most, imo.

A lot of this mystery will be resolved in March---but it is tough waiting that long.

The Dolphins should seriously just stick with Tua....and Im not just saying that because I dont want them trading for Watson.  Tua was an amazing college QB, and showed some real promise last year, while still recovering from a horrific injury, and learning the speed of the NFL.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
